Anyone applied to the nursing program for this fall?

I also took PSY Human Growth & Development but I don't think it will count for anything at CSU, but it would at ColsTech. Kind of a bummer

I just relized that you are the same person from the other post! LOL

I will look at what I need and ask you from there. I have it all written down. Because I just applied to CSU I am not sure how easy it will be to get into Chem. I see already that it is super full. I will have to look again at the instructor names. I made a C in Micro and a B in A&P I and a C in A&P II. They were super hard for me because I was taking Micro and A&P at the sam time along with 12 other creditsI was waaay overloaded.

I was seriously considering doing Respiratory Therapy or Sonography at Cols Tech but if I do that and don't get in then I would be really screwed up. But I really want to shoot for the BSN just to say I did it.

Have you taken the HESI? If so do you ahve the study guide for it? The .pdf version that I keep seeing here on AllNurses?

What kind of grades did you have in Micro and A&P? and Statistics?

The HESI is super easy for columbus state. The only parts that were tested were math, english, and reading. No A&P, no vocab, or chem. I bought the study guide and it is a total waste of money.

I had Bs in all my science courses except Chem 2 I had an A. I had an A in Stat. I'm not sure how competitive the programs are at col tech. The only C's I had were old credits from English 1 and 2 Chem 1 and Psych (which I had taken 8 years ago.) I retook Psych and Chem1 and I kept the Cs for English, because I hated English and I didn't want to retake them. LOL

Well I make really good grades in English and reading so I guess I am good to go on that. I will still buy the guide though. At what point in the admission process are you required to take the HESI?

You have to have passed it before the selection process. You can only take it once per calendar year though, so if you fail it the same year you apply you won't be eligible.

So if I took it in 2010 would that score count towards the selection process that would occur in 2011? I thin it would be smart for me to go ahead and take it in 2010 just in case...and if I did not do well I could retake in 2011 and know what to expect.:yeah:

Yeah, that's what most people do. That was my plan, but I got my days mixed up and couldn't reschedule it till this calender year and I worried my butt off that I would fail and not be able to get in this year. After the test I was like.......um why was I worried? It was like a high school test. LOL I made like a 95 on it. Don't sweat it. It really is super easy. I don't even know why it is required if there's no vocab or aandp or chem on it.

How is it going at CSU?

It's going good. Having a good Christmas break and ready for next semester. I really feel like I've learned a lot in just the first semester!

How many days did you attend classes, labs, and clinicals?

It's 4 days a week.

****CICATRIXX** Sorry I just saw your message from February. Yes I took my HESI in December and scored 95%. At the end of this semester I will have a GPA of 3.49. My advisor is waaaaay more optimistic than I am about getting in. At this point I am super nervous about that letter that should be arriving in June. I look at other people in my classes and I would NOT want them to be my nurse!! They are rude, disrespectful to the profs, and worst of all they cheat their way through the class, not to mention never showing up for class. It drives me buggy. Makes me sad to think that THIS is my competition.

Any words hope that you can offer me will def. be helpful! And let me now how your classes are now that you are actaully doing it. Do you start clinicals the very first semester?

You will definitely get in. Don't sweat it.

These people that are missing class and being rude WILL NOT last. You are not allowed to miss class. If you do, it has to be a good reason, and then you have to document the reason and right a letter requesting that it be excused. Classes are going okay except for pathophysiology which is online. I thought it would be easy, but the way the assignments are compared to what the tests are makes it really hard.

You do start clinicals your first semester, but like 5 or 6 weeks after classes start. Before clinicals start you are checked off on skills that you will need for clinicals, like med administration, Foley insertion etc. Then you either start at a nursing home or hospital and then switch half way through.

We got our letters of acceptance the first week of June, so you don't have that much longer to wait! When is the applicaton due? Isn't like April 1 or something?
