CSN Nursing Program

U.S.A. Nevada

I am thinking about applying for the CSN Nursing Program in possibly Fall 2015 if all my prerequs transfer like I think they should. Has anyone taken any of the prenursing classes outside of Nevada? I also want to know what the latest point "cut off" is for people having a good chance of getting in. At a rough guess, by the time I'm done, I'd have somewhere between 30-35 points... is there even a chance of me getting in? I'm ultimately trying to get a Nutrition Degree if all else fails and 90% of the Nursing Prerequs are required for my Nutrition Degree anyways...

Call the program(s) you're intereted in and ask your questions. Also have your transcripts reviewed by an academic counselor there. That's the only way to know for sure and it's a good excuse to make contact with the people who work in the nursing program.

Specializes in ER, IICU, PCU, PACU, EMS.

Moved to the Nevada State Nursing Programs forum.

Hi. I a hopeful for the spring'14 at Csn rn program and what I do know is that the point cutoff does range from as low as 9 all the way up to 28 or so...but each semester varies on how many applies to the program. In rn program the highest possible points u can get are 34pts(unless they change the point system that I'm unaware of), so if you're coming in with 30+ points then you shouldn't have a problem getting in.

But I'm not too informed about out of state transferring process. Sorry

I was under the impression from the Spring 2015 acceptance sheet that 43 points was the max..? Is this new?

Yes, it is new. They just add 10 pts for taking a math 120 or higher, for the new classes starting fall 14 so good luck with the new entrance standard.

Hi, I am applying for CSN RN Spring/Fall 2015 depending on when pre-requisites done. From what I have learned, the Spring 2014 RN programs took students with 27 of 34 points and began Alternate/Wait-List at 26 points. This varies from year to year depending on applicant pool. Based on that logic, the closer to 35 points you are, the better. The biggest factor will be Math 120 since that is now a 10 point advantage to applicants. Prior to the Math 120 addition, students could take a Medical Math course, unfortunately many of the nursing candidates who did not have higher math skills did not perform well in pharmacology and the change was made.

Prior advice to meet with an Academic Advisor and get your transcripts reviewed is excellent. I have BS degree and am facing issues of not receiving credit for everything. My degree is from 1991, so I am having to take Science and Math courses, in addition to the NV Constitution course that is required. I am in process of challenging some of the non-transferred courses just because I don't think I should have to retake Humanities, Communications (Speech), Constitutional Law (have multiple undergrad constitution and political science courses), and Sociology (received credit for Psy 101 but not Soc 101). Just finished Spring 2014 pre-registration for Biol 223, so RN application for Spring or Fall 2015 depends on course availabilities, as well as outcome of credit challenge and math placement. Wishing you success! :)

Hey boothejoo... I will be applying for fall 14. I have 36 points going in and I am nervous. I don't know how this term will pan out in regards to the point system and the math 120 now being 10 pts. I am a nervous wreck these days and have to wait to May to find out. If I were you I would just try to have a high GPA, good score on TEAS, and have all your pre reqs and gen ed's done

I recently talked to a counselor and they said last semester that 24 points was the lowest, and 34 was the highest but now he said math 120 is worth 10 points. so I'm guessing its a new point system.now.

I just got the call! I'm accepted for Spring 2015! Yay!
