CSN LPN 2017

U.S.A. Nevada

I was just wandering was anyone applying for the LPN program @ CSN for the 2017 Summer start? If there is anyone that is or has already completed the program any advice would be helpful.

Oh wow that is great $29 an hour! Yes it's so hard to make a decision because with nursing there are so many routes to take, and there is not necessarily a right or wrong way. I can do any route and make it work so that makes it even harder for me. I think since I have my Bachelors already, at this point I am looking for the quickest, most efficient route but also most importantly the least expensive route to ultimately get my RN.

That's understandable. I was considering CSN, Nevada State and Everest. I also was going to go for LPN but I wasn't going to make it to the deadline for March 1st because I don't have my CNA license. The advisor I spoke to told me to go for RN since 8 have all my classes done except the Bio 189 and the History class. I decide to go with AZ college in the end.

Good for you! So where did you complete A&P and Micro? When I was going to pursue Roseman U accelerated BSN , the advisor informed me of some online science classes through some community colleges. But of course they are like $2,000+ compared to CSN $93~ a credit

I did all my prerequisites at National University Fresno Campus. I will have to do chemistry but I have all the others

Oh so you did them when you were a resident of CA not living in NV?

Yes I was in CA when I did my prerequisites for my BSN.

I was trying to see if I could do my sciences without having to do Bio 189 but it looks like the only option is doing the more expensive route of taking it online as an out is state student at the community colleges the Roseman advisor was informing me about.

that was the only class I was needing to apply but she was telling me it's very competitive to get into any of the science courses at CSN. That makes it even harder.

if all you need is bio 189 and have concern whether or you'll be able to take it at CSN, just take it at Nevada State College. That's where I got mine (bio 189), i got in right away without worries. Majority of my classmates were CSN students. just put down "non-degree" seeking student when you register/apply. Im planning to take Bio 223 and Bio 251 at CSN spring 2017 but my back up is Nevada State College.

[bio 224 is not offered during summer at CSN, so I might take it at Nevada State College since I already completed the first year of LPN program (HHP 123/124 & English) that will free up my time to work on RN science prereq]

I could have did that but there were some other things that kept me from going that route and I already started class at AZ College. I did consider NSC especially since it's walking distance from me.

Can you apply to lpn and rn at the same time? I don't have bio 224 or 251 so I don't think I have much chance of getting in the fall rn program but I figured I'd try anyway! But Im also considering doing Lpn to rn just to get started.

I was told you could but they both start in different months so it's best to pick the one you really want to do.
