CSN childcare?

I was a bit skeptical at first as well. I totally understand what your first impression was. After having my daughter there for a year now, I love it. The teachers are all very nice. At lunch each teacher has 3 or 4 children that she sits at the table with and eats her lunch with them. The teachers take pictures constantly of activities that the children are partaking in. Each child has a portfolio that is updated daily with a report and photos. They, not me, potty trained my daughter. I definitely owe them big time for that. They are very good about having the children wash their hands. In fact, I have had to send my daughter in lotion because they wash their hands that much.

The theme each week has a lot to do with what the children are curious about. If some of the children find something in a book, outside, or just simply have a question about something, oftentimes the next week will be centered around that item. The children do get dirty at school. They can paint whenever they want, so don't send her in good clothes. When my daughter first started they had a table outside with water and foam fish in it. The children were 'fishing', but my daughter wanted to bathe a doll in it, so the teachers let her. They are really hands on and believe in letting the children explore as long as it is safe. When my daughter is 4 I might look to put her in more of a preschool setting, but for 2 and 3 year olds I think this place is great. Don't let the fact that it is based in a trailer scare you away.

Also, most of the teachers have been there for 6 or more years. The 2 main teachers in the 2/3 yr old room have been there for 8+ years. Most daycares turnover is monthly. It is nice to know that your child will have the same person caring for them day in and day out.

My daughter has been in the CSN chilcare at the Charleston campus for a year now, and let me tell you they are the BEST!!! She has learned so much there and she loves to go. She is 3, and started when she was 2. The people there are so caring, and they have a great outdoors area where the kids can run and play. It's like a giant backyard. I was a little skeptical at first because I have always been a stay at home mom with my kids. Once she started going, my only regret was that I had any fear of taking her. The cost is low and there are no contracts to sign. This was another huge benefit!!!
