You really need to see how the transfer credits worked at your school! Sometimes they take A&P II in lieu of Physio. You just have to make sure the equivalencies balance out. Also, you need to find the minimum requirements for your school, some do a points ranking, so perhaps if you have stellar course work else where, you can bypass taking the classes again. For example: I scored well on the TEAS and scored a 26 on my ACT. My high teas score earned me five points, and my ACT score earned me five points. Whereas there were other applicants who earned better grades, (for example I had a C in one of the ranked courses college algebra which I retook last semester and got an A! but it didn't count towards my ranking as I had already applied) didn't rank as highly because of their low TEAS scores and ACT scores, so inevitably I was accepted into the program, and they were wait listed. Not a particularly fair way to determine if someone is qualified for the program, but it allows students like myself who have made mistakes in their past to make up for it in the present. So, I wouldn't have had to retake the class if I hadn't wanted to, but in all fairness to the others that applied and my future security in the program, I thought it was the best way to ensure I excel.
Hope is not lost! Two semesters ago I had a 2.57 GPA. :S By working hard, studying and doing things a different simpler way, I was able to raise that to a 3.4, raise my ACT from a 22 to a 26, and score well on not only the TEAS exam (in the 80s), but also on the HESI exam (in the low 90's) which was for a school who's program offer I declined. All this after a two year hiatus, I was also a youngster who took the hard courses and overloaded myself because of ignorance and alcohol.
I was far too immature to undertake the program then, but now with my renewed energy and focus I know I can do anything! And you can too. It all just takes time, patience, and focus. Also, lots and lots of research! Find the school that has the best ranking system to fit your academic profile, to one college you could look horrible, to another you could be a shining star!

Your situation sounds similar to mine, I took Chemistry and A&P in the same semester along with 3 other classes and was working almost full time and messed up my grades. Talk to your advisor about how classes transfer in and see if you could replace that physio class with their A&P class. There are also a lot of private schools that are costly, but less competitive that you might be able to get into. some nursing schools also go based off of just a waitlist as long as you have a 2.0 or 2.5 GPA. You could look into those programs too.
thank you ive been really stressing out...i was a lot more immature then and taking way too heavy of a school load along with working 25-30 hrs a week...im very good at school, getting almost straight A's now but that one semester still is driving me crazy, im so sad that i did that to myself
Your grades have nothing on mine. My first actual semester in College, I got a D in A&P I. I ignored it for a long time, thinking Nursing was something I didn't want to do. Then, after a few years of working, and realizing that I could do better for myself, I decided to go back to school. The first thing I tackled? A&P I. Got an A in it, and it revived my hopes that I could indeed do better for myself. Now I've been accepted into arguably the best nursing program in my area, with a scholarship that pays my entire tuition to a private university.
If I can do it, I know anyone can that has the fortitude. Priorities are really something you have to get in line, I wouldn't have been able to do that five years ago.

Sounds like me! How long ago did you take these classes? I know in my case that they have expired for most of the programs I've been applying to so I just took them over and got A's the second time around.
I even took them at the same school and usually they have a strict no repeat policy so I challenged them. I talked to deans/counselors, was persistent, and was able to get cleared for the classes when I showed them that they had expired and would not be accepted for transfer into a nursing program. I showed them I would be stuck at the cc otherwise.
If the expiration of classes doesn't apply to you take them over at a different school. If that is an issue get yourself on a waitlist in the meantime until you figure out what to do. I have a friend who I took my pre-reqs with who had all C's and she is halfway through her nursing program because she put herself on a waitlist years ago. I have a higher gpa but didn't get on a waitlist years ago and I'm still trying to get into school. Better safe than sorry. Sure you may be waiting for a few years but it is better than not holding a spot at all. Good luck to you.
i got a c in physio and micro though, i dnt think you can retake it if u have a C. but now the school im at has anat/physio combined as a class and in 2 semesters so i might take that and see if that helps...i was just way too immature at the time and took too many classes thinkin i was superman or something and working like 30hrs a week...i was an idiot
J*mart, thank you, my classes are not expired cuz i took them like 2 yrs ago. i have changed a lot since then and it makes me sad to see how dumb and ignorant i was then. and in Cali, you cant go on the waitlist for the program until you have all of your prereqs finish and you cant be in the process of finishing them, they have to be DONE! lol its not lookin like a very good situation for me...but i guess its my fault, so we will see what happens

Not sure what State you are in but here in Connecticut most (if not ALL) the nursing programs want the A&P to be a C+ or better if you don't get a C+ you have to retake it in order to use it toward any A&P pre-req or co-req with nursing program. So one would have to take it again in order to try and get the required minimum grade.
Who told you that you can't retake classes with C's? I'd check with the school and see if thats the case. Some schools do limit retaking a class to 2 times..the original time and once more.

OMG....I am 38, married, and 4 kids and had a major event happen with one of my children this march and on top of that I was stupid enough to take on a FULL course load and failed my A&P and math class. If that wasn't enough to knock me down several pegs, I now have been rethinking my RN as I am an LPN and just worried I dont have what it takes to be a nursing student. I haven't cried so much since the event with my child. I am sick to my stomach.

The school I attend (and hope to do my nursing studies in) requires a B on all A&P classes for admission into the nursing program. I have to take A&PI over again because even though I got a B last time, it's been too long (7 years ago). But I do have to retake a Psych class because I didn't get a high enough grade, and while talking to my advisor she said that classes can be retaken to get a better grade, so definitely check with your school, and if that isn't an option, perhaps an appeal is. I think schools are a bit more understanding than you might think. Give it a shot, and best of luck! :)
Don't be sick to your stomach! The first time I took A&P 1 I thought I'd been working my butt off, but guess what? Big ole D! It doesn't matter how well you do on all the laboratory work if you don't understand the exam material.
First thing you should reconsider? Your study skills, I think they're some online assessments to test your learning methods, do that first, find how you learn. I'm more of a auditory learner, so I had to record a lot of the lectures, and listen to them while I was jogging, cleaning, or sometimes sleeping... (yeah you think I'm crazy? SO!) As with anything, repetition is key, whether it's copying notes down a hundred times, listening to it a hundred times, reading the chapters a hundred times... you gotta do it. Repeat repeat repeat. It's how you learn language, hearing words and actions over and over, and you have to start somewhere.
Finally, mix it up. Talk to people in your class, something I've found convenient is talking to people who are doing just as or better in a class than I am. Their ideas and information are the most valuable resource I've had.
By changing my study habits I changed my whole life, in highschool, I was the brainiac, in college I'm just another face in the crowd. It's been a very humbling experience, I used to think I learned by osmosis, but now I realize I actually learned by having at least an hour of repetition a day, guided instruction, and forced studying.
NEVER GIVE UP NEVER SURRENDER! I hope all this stuff helps me next semester. When I finally begin the program. :)
Also, don't be afraid to talk to your counselors, they're there to ensure you succeed, some are slackers, but most want to help. If one isn't helping switch it up, there's no building that doesn't have a way in.
Anyone have any advice on new recorders? Mine got destroyed in a rain storm.
