Hi, I am just writing to wish you all luck. I could hardly forget the time I took the exam and my aftermath feeling. It was almost last year but now that much stress and hard work paid off. Wish you all Feb exam taker Luck. Just try to relax and wait for the result.
It is hard to relax but no other choice it is done you can not change it but atleast you can enjoy your time which you could never return it back. I looked like my mom with this much saying...........:heartbeat:typing:cool::sofahider
I also wrote the exam earlier this month. I left the exam feeling unsure as to how I did. For a lot of the questions I could narrow it down to two answers and then had to make an educated guess. Now, as I wait for the result I am starting to work at a local hospital. My biggest fear is that I will get through orientation and then be notified that I failed and have to stop working. I also received a signing bonus from the employer and would have to pay it back if I dont pass and be out of a job. It is so scary having so much on the line. I dont know how I will get through these 6 weeks. ItS TORTURE!
I found on the CRNBC website that if you fail, you need to get the confirmation letter from your employer that he is aware about your "FAIL" mark, and he is agree to continue working with you. And also you need to show your plan to CRNBC advisors - how can you improve your performance on the next exam. When you submit all this documents to CRNBC you have a real chance to be allowed to work as a nurse (temporary lisence) and sign up for the next exam.
My best wishes for everybody who wrote CRNE in February!!!!!!!!! And good luck!!!!!!!
Does any one know for real, what happens if you fail in the 3rd trial, in Ontario?Do you do RPN after? in the evaluation form at the end of the exam, they ask which trial is it for you and the last option for that question is "three or more". So I wonder on which circumstances do they allow three or more trials to ontarians? Any one have any Idea?
The Regulated Health Professions Act of Ontario states:
1. The expiry of six months from the date the certificate was issued.
2. The issuance of a general certificate of registration in the same class as the temporary certificate of registration.
3. Receipt of notification of the failure of an examination that, if passed, would have satisfied the examination requirement for registration in the general class for the class of nurse for which the temporary certificate was issued.
(a) the person successfully completed an examination which met the requirement for registration in that general class;
(b) the person was the subject of a decision from the Registration Committee respecting the person's eligibility to take the examination and the person is no longer eligible under that decision to take the examination; or
© the person is a person not referred to in clause (b) and the person failed on three or more previous occasions an examination which would have met the examination requirement for registration in that general class.
There is no provision for persons failing the CRNE to become PRNs in Ontario.
The Prince Edward Island Regulated Health Professions Act states:
9) Failure to pass - A person who, on three consecutive attempts,
examinations
(a) fails the CRNE; or
(b) fails to meet the minimum standard set by the Council for the
CRNE or for a substitute examination referred to in subsection (5),
may not write the same category of examination again unless the person
first takes the basic nursing education program offered by an approved
school of nursing.
Manitoba will require anyone failing their second attempt at the CRNE to surrender their temporary practice permit and undertake a course of instruction (ie a nursing refresher course) before being given permission to write for the third and final time. A third failure results in the applicant having to retrain, from the beginning, and as it stands now, that means the successful completion of a baccalaureate degree.
The CRNBC CRNE FAct Sheet states quite clearly:
A candidate is eligible to write the registration examination three times only, including all writings of the Registereed Nurse Examination in all other Canadian jurisdictions. An applicant who has failed the registration examination twice will be required to complete remedial studies prior to writing the examnation a third time.
This means that after the second failure, as in Manitoba, a nursing refresher course will be required. A third failure is the end of the road. The applicant would then have to repeat the entire nursing educaition program, which is a baccalaureate degree.
I am unable to find any provincial legislation that allows for more than three attempts at the CRNE without repeating a basic nursing education programme. Kookie2412, the reference to "three or more attempts" is related to a cluase that only applies to individuals who have been "grandfathered in" under changes in legislation and will not apply to anyone who is currently in the process of becoming registered for the first time.
The last 3 1/2 weeks have been TORUTRE! I keep having dreams that I get pulled off the floor in the middle of my shift and told that Im fired because I failed my exam! Really though, if I fail, I don't know if I will work in this hospital again as everyone would know about it. I just wish I knew
You all need to read the other CRNE threads. The results take 4 to 6 weeks depending on a number of variables. If this thread is going to turn into a long list of "when will my results come" posts for the next two weeks, it's going to get quite boring.
we were all told that it can take up to 8 weeks... I think the posts are more people expressing their anxiety than asking how long it will take

Hi to everybody in this thread!
I've never thought before that exams can be so tough!!!!!!! So, I tried to do my best on the February 2009 exam and it was my first (and hope - the last writing). I just HOPE for a "PASS" mark in my envelope from CRNBC.
