CRNBC Audit

Hi. Has any of the experienced nurses here undergone an audit during the renewal of their registration? It's to see if one has completed the continuing competence requirements & reached the minimum number of hours worked. Would appreciate it if you could share your experience... Thanks..

I was randomly audited last year. It's fairly simple and straighforward once you stop hyperventilating when you open the envelope and stop screaming "OMG, ****!!"

Filled it up, sent it in, and about six weeks later got a "thank you" letter.

... and a few more grey hairs.

CARNA and CRNBC do not follow the same continuing competence model, so there are likely to be differences in their audit program. The information I gave about CARNA may be useful, but it may not be. Several people I know who were audited by CARNA this year did not meet their requirements - due to how they documented and not that they didn't do the work! They were forced to take a course at GMCC on the continuing competence program, at their own expense and on their own time while working under a temporary restricted permit. My best advice to the OP is to read through CRNBC's information package about their CC program, look at their documentation requirements and ensure that you've got paperwork that looks like theirs. In some ways it's like a game - you have to know the rules to be able to win the game.
