Do most CRNAs work a standard 40-hour per week?

There are two schedules where I work - a 24 and a 16, or a 24 and two 8s. But there are also some people who do call only and part time.

Personally, I think if you come out of school expecting a 40-hr work week, you have picked the wrong profession.

Depends on where you work. You can find almost any combination of hours you want.
There are plenty of surgical centers around here with 40 hour weeks. Those places usually like clockwork since there are no emergencies and everything is scheduled.

One of the jobs I was offered is a 40 hr work week, no call, no weekends, no holidays. Obviously it pays a little less then if you take call, but it just depends on what you want out of a job and what kind of lifestyle you want. There are also jobs out there that require minimal call as well.

All of the CRNAs where I work are on forty hour weeks. We self schedule and work any combo of shifts. though no one works a 24 and a 16, I personally do a 16 and two 12s.
40 hours is a possibillty as is any other amount you wish to work.
Thank you all for the replies.

This sounds nice.
How do you self schedule? What happens if all your required slots aren't filled?

My Group has 31 CRNA's. All shift work. Some work 7-3 five days a week with no call, no nights and no weekends. The only requirement is one holiday shift (8 hours) per year.
The jobs that value lifestyle are out there. Go look for them.
In my Group CRNA's work shifts like 7-3. Some work 7-3 five days a week for a total of 40 hours. Others work more hours for more money. There are many jobs out there that will meet your requirements.
If you value lifestyle, I humbly suggest that you look for a CRNA contract that GUARANTEES your departure with no nights, no weekends and no mandatory overtime.

I work three twelve hour shifts. Approx. one night/week OB call and every
8th-9th week w/e call. so there are many many work settings.
