I post on SDN but even I don't take them seriously.

When it comes to issues surrounding nursing and professional on the healthcare team SDN psoters are clueless.... and powerless....

Great, now you are going to get JWK started on here!!!!

The AANA is celebrating its 75th anniversay next month. Just look at its history--the first nursing specialty organization, over 90+ percent of CRNAs belong to the AANA. This is better than the ASA and AMA. The AANA is known in Washington, DC to be one of the most effective lobbying groups in the country. All attempts to limit or eliminate CRNA practice have been overturned by the courts. There has NEVER been any valid studies that show any difference in anesthesia care by nurse anesthetists and anesthesiologists.

I could go on and on, but I won't waste my time or energy on things posted in the student doctor's forum. I will be happy to take them on, one by one, and I will win. The really should be careful what they post, they or a member of their family has probably already been anesthetized by a CRNA.

yoga,

i agree with your words.. it (the sdn post) had me wondering though, about their "research" statement.. is it that they feel crna's are not doing enough research within the field? is it a requirement throughout practice? or are they just plain 'dumb' and fearful?

and, yes, one could go on and on...

75 years has to mean something, no?

Yoga, will you be attending the AANA meeting next week?

Yoga, will you be attending the AANA meeting next week?

Yes, I will be there Saturday evening through Monday evening. Then I must get back to work.

I am most anxious to hear President Clinton. It was a major coup getting him to speak. As you know his mother was a CRNA.

PS, If you want to meet, send me a PM

yoga- i look forward to seeing those "bleeps" in the OR and showing them how real anesthesia is done... they sounded like a bunch of 15y/o boys calling names and making statements they obviously have no facts to back them up...

i guess they are too lazy to look up the hx of anesthesia - ... lazy....ologist...hmmm...

Those guys talk like every freaking anesthesiologist around is doing research. That is just plain untrue. THe fact is that only a small percentage of them are doing the research and writing text books ect.

Yes anesthesia has come a long way in the past few decades no doubt. And yes anesthesiologists have helped it to advance. But even more so have the pharm companies that have developed safer, more effective drugs. The medical device Co. that have developed safe deliver machines, and safer rescue equipment ect. We really should push this info to the public. Yes anesthesia is much safer these days and yes providers play a big role its safety. But if we we still using drip ether or dTb, galamine ect anesthesia wouldnt be as safe. Plain and simple. And believe me anesthesiologists are not developing these drugs.
