Does anyone know how much an entry level CRNA makes yearly VS an RN who has worked in ICU for at least 3 years grave yard shift ?$$????? Estimate please..Thanks:welcome:Note: I'm living in San Jose California
I have no clue what people in California would make, but where I'm at (Mississippi), CRNA's start out at around 160K per year as a new grad. ICU RN's on graveyard shift make about 22 per hour (as a new grad). Basically, it's a huge difference no matter what part of the country you are in.

Houston, Tx
New grad CRNA 125-135k/ ICU RN 3yrs exp 60k
These figures are using a 40 hr work week. The RN can increase salary to 75-80 with overtime or becoming an agency RN. The CRNA can do locum (agency anesthesia) or work OT and increase to 175k easy.

Thank You, what's an agency nurse? Doesn't the agency take away part of your salary? Please explain:nuke:

A CRNA will make roughly 2-3 times what an ICU RN makes, all things considered.
Yeah but when you factor in the cost of living in Cali that 88k is not much for that that 55-65k living in Houston.
Actually, it's about the same. According to the Burea of Labor Statistics, Houston RN's make about $58K on average.

$88K a year would pretty much give you the same standard of living in San Jose.

I can tell you as a Bay Area native who now lives in Houston that, that cost of living calculator is wrong, wrong, wrong. Our family income is around that 58k mark and we live in a house that's 10 years old and almost 3000 sq ft. in a great neighborhood with excellent schools. Our house sold for well under 200k.
On a salary of 88k in San Jose, you couldn't find anything close to our home for under a million. No way no how.

You can get a decent house in a decent neighborhood for about 170k (and thats about two miles from downtown) in Houston. How much is a comparable house in San jose?
