Hey everyone, I have started a thread for the 2021 CRNA cohort at the University of Miami. I could not seem to find one for this application cycle.
I have just applied and am hoping I get an interview.
Hi JKReene,
I interviewed on March 3rd. I believe its only two people, I haven’t met anybody that has had anymore than that, but then again I'm not sure. It was the director and the associate Dean. The interview is kind of driven by what you say. For example, they ask about a pt that was challenging for you, and they go from there. So my advice to you is know your area of expertise very well, and whatever you say make sure to know it well . Know your drips to the receptor level, and most importantly be yourself don’t try to invent the answers if you don’t know , just be honest. I hope this helps . Good luck! @JKRenee

Especially since some schools visit these boards to see what is being discussed, I've seen the director of another program reply to applicants looking for answers to interview styles. My recommendation is just Google CRNA interview questions and know your vasopressors down to the receptor level. This is pretty general for all interviews and I have had 2 so far (including UM). Go over vents, know your ABG's and etc. it's all stuff you should feel comfortable with. Best of luck.
I’m not asking for specifics on what what type of questions are being asked during the interview. I’m just curious to know how the vibe is. Is it laid back, etc. Also, I don’t think disclosing how many are interviewing someone is revealing too much. I do understand that people are hesitant to answer on a public platform for fear someone may be lurking.

Correct they will take your scenario and create questions from what you say. It's very individualized as these are CRNA's and directors who have years of experience. There is no one way interview style its highly adapted to each applicant.

I just got an email that they are still processing applications despite this covid-19 situation. The program director sent out an email. Even though some people interviewed, they too got the e-mail from what I heard.

You never know. The email said something about web-interviews (tentative). That’d be pretty interesting. Remember, they too are working from home. They’re trying to find a solution, they can’t just let everything stay up in the air.
