Hello everyone! I am currently trying to get into my BSN program at OU. My overall goal is to become a nurse anesthetist. Because I live in Oklahoma, there are not any CRNA programs available near me. I cannot move to another state to attend school at this time, but that might be an option in the future. Does anyone have recommendations on being able to complete a CRNA program while staying in Oklahoma and maybe just having to travel a little bit here and there? Does anyone have recommendations for getting into a CRNA program? Anything I can do now to help my chances at getting in?
Also, I have heard rumors about requirements for a doctorate vs a master's changing in the future. Does anyone know anything about that?

Hi! People in your similar situation look at Newman and Texas Wesleyan Univ. I have heard Tulsa is getting a program soon, pending their accreditation approval (Maybe even accepting apps next year?? That would be nice.). Not many programs are offered online, most didactic components are on campus. Newman has some OK clinical options, but it's not guaranteed.
This website was a good starting point for me, but always go to a school's site for the most up-to-date info: www.all-crna-schools.com
In a couple years ALL CRNA schools will be required to be doctorate programs. So that's why you see a mix right now as MSNs are transitioning into DNPs.
Get ICU experience, make the most of your opportunities at work (clinical recognition programs, certifications, precepting, charging, etc.), take college courses some programs may require of you, and shadow!
I'm applying to Newman this year. Hope this helps!
Wow! This is a lot of great information! Thank you so much!
Do you know what year the cut off will be for a master's vs a doctorate for CRNAs?

You’re welcome! All CRNA programs need to transition to doctorates by 2022 I believe in order to meet the 2025 requirement that all entry-level CRNA’s have to have doctorates.
Shameless plug: check out Oklahoma Christian University if you’re still looking! They do an online bridge program for RN to BSN. They let you test out of subjects you already know, letting you skips some chunks! The professors are amazing and are there for YOU. Their recent NCLEX pass rate was 92%.
