Hello All!
Is anyone applying to the Summer 2024 LEAP program and has insight in the program and interview process? Applications are due in almost a month and from what I read the interviews come quickly and are intense. Any tips appreciated!
I checked out my interview email and it says this.
QuotePost Interview:
All applicants will be notified of their status by March 1. Interview feedback is contingent on participating faculty permission and availability.
If you do not already have one, consider professional mentorship, which is highly encouraged for those seeking to make this career 'leap' successfully. This resource can best help you assess your strengths and assist you with planning a way forward.
Those admitted should expect to start the program in June.
Hopefully this calms our fears and anxiety! Good luck everybody
Hi, current LEAP student here. Congratulations to all who interviewed, that's a great achievement and you should be proud of yourselves!
Like my classmate said, there is a conference going on this weekend for program directors and educators. We have been told that during this conference is when a lot of discussion occurs regarding the current LEAP students and the incoming class. There's input from all of the program directors involved in the student selection process - that's a lot to decide and come to a consensus amongst so many different perspectives. I'm guessing there was probably a lot of things to discuss about the program and they may not have been able to get that squared away before leaving for the conference. They might still be discussing students this weekend, so try to be patient! Dr. Moore has also been incredibly busy this term, so that might be another reason for the delay.
Each director clearly cares and is invested in every single student in the program, which is really humbling and motivating, but also shows the amount of thought and care that is put into student selection. Last year, it was about three weeks after interviews before we were notified of admission by email. We are only the third cohort to be going through and there are changes being made to the program every year that are so beneficial; keep in mind that all the changes and any delays are for the benefit of students with the goal of creating a better experience!
Take a few breaths, know that we're all rooting for you, and enjoy the weekend. (We usually don't get administrative communication over the weekend). Don't panic! I know it's hard, but try to relax and wait until Monday!
