I don't see this as a critical care topic. It could be if you are taking care of fresh transplants but I have worked at two transplant hospitals that had med-surg floors with a transplant specialty for pts immediately post transplant after ICU, re-admits with complications, and pre-transplant pts. The majority of my hospital's transplant pts are not in ICU

What are your ratios like? Are your pt walkie talkies? Do you enjoy it? Lots of teaching opportunities ? Or would you consider it a glorified med surg ? Our unit is a pcu so I am hoping to get some critical care experience.

Personally I hated my time in med surg. Ratios were too high, didn't get time to really kniw pt or their histories , and most days I felt like a psych nurse.

Anything you want to share is appreciated!!
