I have recently graduated from an accelerated BSN program in Columbus, Ohio and my wife and I are thinking about relocating to Colorado, Northern Idaho, or Washington State. I know several hospitals around here have critical care internships or fellowships for new graduates. Does anyone know of any good critical care internships or fellowships in these states? Does anyone know of a resource that lists these types of opportunities by state or is easy to search?
Thanks for any information you can provide,
Andrew

I posted a similar question about Internships in WA state, and someone said that Tacoma General and the Catholic Hospital (forgot the name, I'm sorry) down in Tacoma both have internships. WA state internships are few and far between though, so who knows how competitive they might be. Good luck! :)

Depending on what kind of Critical Care environment you're looking for... You'll want to go to Sacred Heart in Spokane if you want transplants, VADs and it's the regional trauma center.

Hey,
I am not sure, but when I was hired as a new grad a year and half a go, at Swedish Medical Center, Englewood, CO(just south/right on the line, of Denver ) they were hiring new grads in CC nursing and it was an internship of some kind. So, you might could call there or speak to their nurse recruiter. Its a good hospital, Level One Trauma, or you could look into Saint Anthony's Central, also a Level One Traum Hsptl, also in Denver, which is one the hospitals, I work for now(I float to diff ones in the Denver area, within Centura Healthcare, now)
Hope this helps a little,
Maggie

Kootenai is nice, but you won't get many really sick critical patients. They get shipped to Spokane.

I'm in the SDAP at MCCN, too! Congrats on your graduation. You went out right when I came on. We're almost half way there now. Time flies. Psych with Delores right now. She's so funny.
I wondered what you ended up doing about moving out west and finding an internship or employment. Unit? Atmosphere? Salary (if that's not too personal)?
I'm putting my feelers out there now to see where and what's available to us newbies. I'm really interested in internships. That seems to be the way to go to get up-to-speed in a new place.
Congrats, again!
