Hello all!
I'm new to this forum and have a question.
I am a long time psych RN...20+ years, in a large teaching hospital. At this facility a Critical Response Team", or CAT team was started a couple of years ago in an attempt to reduce morbidity/mortality rates. We are looking at initiating a similar team to respond to what may be psychiatric emergencies among the general hospital population. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? If so I'd love to hear about it!

No experience on this type of team you are thinking about starting....but, I always thought that a team like this made complete sense....long over due IMHO.

You may be thinking of psychiatric consultation-liaison nursing, a recognized sub-speciality within psych nursing. I used to be on a PCL team at a large teaching hospital. However, PCL teams typically provide a much wider range of services than just responding to psychiatric emergencies. There's lots of literature out there.

Could you please elaborate on "psychiatric consultation-liason nursing", this sounds very interesting. Where can I find information about this and other sub specialities of psych nursing?
Thanks!
