Criminal Background question

Published

I am in Texas and am applying to Nursing School this fall to enter next fall of 2010. My question is how will my criminal background affect my chances at getting into Nursing School and getting a job afterwards? I have two DWIs, one from 2003 and again in 2005. (I did not hurt anyone thankfully, they were traffic stops not accidents). After the second one I realized I obviously had a problem with alcohol and received treatment and I have been sober since 2006. I have submitted a Declaratory order from the state to get cleared for the NCLEX exam and clinicals, but I was curious as to how this will affect my chances at getting into school, etc. I can't hide it and wouldn't change it because it helped me get help, but I am just wondering how this will affect my chances in the future. Any answers or experience on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

The best thing you can do is talk to your nursing adviser and ask them. They will know and have the best options or advice for you.Every school runs their programs differently so it's best to go straight to the source.

I was going to suggest the same thing..u should talk to the advisors @ school
