Who all has gotten in to the Creighton ABSN program in Phoenix?

I got accepted but I chose to defer until January 2020. Hopefully that opens up a spot for someone in August ?

Has anyone created a Facebook page yet?

Wondering if anyone who has started the program, or completed it, can tell me the times that classes begin and end the first 8 weeks, and all when clinicals begin. I know the clinical schedule etc. but wondering if someone could give me a more day to day schedule. Like what time do you start on Monday, end, start on Tuesday, end. Etc. I’ll be starting in January 2020 and I’m just trying to find some idea of start and end times. Any info would help!!! Thanks

Hello all! congrats on acceptance to the program - I am currently in the ABSN program in phoenix and would be happy to answer some questions in my free time with info about what to expect and on good places to live!

@Kelina It's hard to say if they will change things or not, but this program really is a full time job. The first 8 weeks were very intense. Mondays were reserved for exams, Tuesdays we had class from 9am-12ish, Wednesdays from 9-3, Thursdays from 1-4, and Fridays from 8-4. Even though that sounds like a lot of time off it truly is essential to study and get all assignments completed, no one in our program works a job.

Nurse0691, what about the days you aren’t in clinical? What are your hours?

@Kelina you won’t start clinical until after the first 8 weeks. But I would plan at that time to be in class or clinical from 8am-4pm some clinical you are there from 6am-4pm and others 7am-7pm... it really depends. You maybe have the weekends off or you may have clinical on Saturday then only get Wednesday and Sunday off - it’s really hard to give you specifics like that because they are constantly changing what clinical rotations will look like for the next group.

Ok. Thanks for info. So I know you are in clinicals 3 days a week. Varying/changing days. But what about the other days. Say you are in clinicals mon Wed, Thurs, what are you doing Tuesday and Friday? If that makes sense. Are you in class?

Yes you will be in class the other days.

Ok thanks. And are they 8-5? Sorry. I have a nanny and I’m just trying to give her a tiny idea of the times.

@Kelina thanks for asking these questions and @nurse0691 thanks for answering! I’ve been accepted as well, but had to defer until Fall 2020 because I found out I’m pregnant after submitting the application. By Fall 2020, I’ll have a near-4-year-old and 9 month old. Trying to figure out how to manage, as I won’t have any family nearby. I appreciate any tips!
