Most of the time you are responsible for taking it by yourself. I had a couple people from my class in mine (I found out later we were in the same class). You can find classes here:
Also, take it as close to school starting as possible-its lasts for a year and you have to renew yearly so it is easier to do that each summer. It is one less thing to schedule. (I think American Heart Association cards last for two years so you may want to check that out.)
GL!
I took it before school started to get it out of the way and it was free because I worked at the hospital.
then school started and they made me take it again (and PAY) because they wanted everyone to have the same recert day.
BTW - CPR card is good for 2 years, but you must take it every year while in nursing school... Maybe this is a rule just for my program, not sure. Wanted to tell you in case it is not just my school that does it. Personally, I don't think it is a bad idea to make students take it yearly... it is just another scheduling hassle for me :-)

When did you take your CPR class before nursing school? Did your whole class take the cpr class together or was it each individuals responsibility? How long until it expires. The reason I ask is they are offering a CPR class at the end of summer and I know I will need it anyway. I won't be in the actual nursing program though until jan 07. I don't want to be the only one in class that doesn't go if it is a group thing though.
