Two questions, do we check the saline bottle for date, the bottle is only good for24 hrs. If we open a new one do we date that one? next question, this may seem dumb but curious why don't we clean the wound in the lab station. We take all this time to do the wound but no cleaning it. Am I missing a step here? Thank you for any help with this.

I was under the impression that the ns bottle will be new, if opened they tell us to " pretend" it's new. Under the critical elements they do not say to date the bottle. Under the old cpne guides they were suppose to clean the won't. Under our 17th edition we dont have to clean the wound. I font know why. Hope that helps!
Thank you Brenan, it does help! Some of the things that are critical, like not touching the gauze with the skin is a failure, yet its ok not to clean the wound. A bit strange to me but the Excelsior way it is!!

Not having to clean the sims lab wound is a "Gift". They would much rather see that you know how to remove a dressing properly, how to apply sterile gloves, and how to pack a wound properly.... So take the small gift, count your blessings and run with it
