Can any of our former medics give a quick comparison of the CPNE vs NREMT-P practical exams? Obviously the subject matter is different, but the general flow/idea? I ask because like many, I was intimidated by my own NREMT-P exam, but looking back it was actually quite easy..

The lab portion of the CPNE is very much like national registry -- you can practice the labs a bazillion times and they should be easy by the time you get to the CPNE. The patient care scenarios (PCSs) are different than registry in that you have to do care plans and do actual assessments/management of patients, but the PCSs still have critical elements that you have to hit to be successful; knowing those and keeping track of the critical elements during your PCSs is like 99% of the battle.
I found the whole verbalizing thing I was taught during medic school was SO helpful during the whole CPNE! Kept me focused and on track, for the most part. I think I had almost talked my voice away by the end of my weekend.
As always, you're a great help!
As a side note, how do us crusty old medics learn how to write a "care plan", or is that covered during the RN classes. I do recall making fun of my wife during her LPN training for her "nursing diagnosis" and "care plans" lol

I'll let you know when I finished!
There are study aids for this -- I didn't have a clue either when I started out! I think your wife is about to have her revenge, though.
