CPNE sites vs winter weather

Published

Is there a policy on this?

I'm looking into the northern sites for the CPNE and if my math is correct, I can test as early as Jan-March aka snow storm time- right?

I'd be flying in from FL~ I'm not used to the bad weather and I'm not sure how the airlines would work in that situation especially since they cancel normal flights now:confused:

According to the study guide:

"The CPNE is rarely cancelled due to inclement weather. Add additional travel time to accommodate bad weather conditions, especially if you travel during the winter months."

I don't know what to tell you ... take a chance, I guess? Or apply for a site in Texas. :D

Yes, it could be snow storm time! Even into March (it is a little less likely)....... Airlines vary.. I've flown out in a full blown blizzard /ice storm before. It's so comforting while your on the plane and they are de-icing it. The larger airports tend to be the ones with problems. I would just plan for the possibility of a delay or cancellation. ie if your CPNE is on Friday - leave Weds or Thurs. Plenty of time to deal with a delay or cancellation. Shuttles and everything else should still be running to get you to your hotel and the hospital.

In the northeast?

Plan to arrive a day early. I live 120 miles north of Albany and lousy weather and light snow is a given through the entire winter.

We're used to it - driving, walking, living, the ganseh megillah - but airplanes still have trouble with it.

one thing about texas in the winter months we usually dont get snow but we do get ice...just the threat is enough to close stuff down...if we do get it ec may not shut down but everything else will so that is something else to think about before coming to texas during the winter here. check the weather. now that situation is the minority and most of the time we could swim during the months jan and feb............................:onbch:

yeah? well, so can i, smarty pants, if my bath tub is deep enough! ;)

seriously, pay for the extra night at the hotel and get in a day early. really bad weather delays openings but doesn't close things down, except, again, for airports. and remember, if you change in, say, chicago they might be closed and we're open. and you will change somewhere to get to upstate ny.
