Dear yaddadoit:

I was feeling sorry for myself because I've been trying to get some kind of collection of CPNE experiences to help prepare and also to help with an educated selection of site, and have no responses--it has been a whole 3 days!

Then I saw yours--even longer and nothing.

I decided at least we can communicate between the two of us! Maybe someone else will join in!

I had good luck on Excelsior's website, in the online student services section, posting where I was and that I was interested in getting together with others in my area (Dallas). I got one here (just enough!), and a fellow who telephoned me from Minnesota. He and I chatted for about an hour, and we still stay in email contact.

So, I would encourage you to post your request on EC's site.

You might also look into the nontraditional nursing student site on yahoo (this should get you right to it). There are other Yahoo sites as well, but this one is probably the most comprehensive. I did find some really good "after action" reports on the CPNE.

Well, I've been waiting about 2 months for the moderator of the rnstudygroup to get his or her tush in gear and either accept me or refuse me.

The allexcelsiornurses group is a sham front for Academy of Nurses alias Excel Advantage. Join and see how fast the moderator sends you their ad! (I think it is automatic.) I'm banned from that group since I got my refund for their slick bait and switch, but I joined under another name. I check from time to time to see if there is anything there, but other than a few files that are in every other online group, there is nothing. I don't mean nothing worth anything, I mean nothing, as in empty folders in the file section. The files that were there were posted by their IT guy who doubles as their marketer, apparently. His user names include Robmanager and LPNcrazy, and another one that is something like nursesruletheworld. Neither he nor his wife has ever been a nursing student, although he likes to post about how much help they got from Excel Advantage on their EC exams! (Not the most honest guy in the world, that one.)

Check the EC chatroom/bulletin board thing. Also, you might check with the Oregon nurses and Washington nurses forums in this BB.

And Betty_SPN_KS, if you are a member of the rnstudygroup, could you drop him/her a line via group post and ask for a yay or nay for me? Thanks!

Betty_SPN_KS, I used chris_in_bowie. (This is the only group I use the "at Lucas" name....)

I "exited" the group and reapplied yesterday, thinking that if it was higher up in the email pile the moderator might find it.....

I moderate the nontradnurses site now, and it can get a little overwhelming when you are also trying to keep it safe and protected.....
