When at the CPNE, did you completely write out your mnemonics on the grid or just the first letter? I want to keep my planning phase short, but obviously do not want to miss anything during implementation. I'm going to start timing myself this afternoon.
Thank god for sheet protectors and dry erase markers. They were my best friends before (didn't know they went together) and now they're my printer's savior!

Good idea about the sheet protectors and dry erase markers. Write out whatever you feel you need on your grid. It is for your use. You are right to be concerned about timing, you don't want to take up too much time in any phase, so that you leave yourself only a few minutes to chart at the end. That could fail the PCS for you.
Thanks! I keep telling myself 1 person, 2 1/2 hours. Work = 20-40 people 8 hours and I always get done on time.

During my cpne I wrote the first letter and then filled in the rest. They give you a packet and it has blank pages to write your grid on. When it comes to timing yourself for practice at home, trust me it will be different during the cpne. I am very good with time mgmt but during the cpne, I barely made it. I was charting so fast I got hand cramps! LOL! But, it gets better after your first PCS.
Oh boy! I thought the first PCS would be ok since I would already have my care plan done.

Well to practice you need to be able to write out the WHOLE grid, straight from memory, again and again and again - I suggest on 1 piece of paper per each grid you pull straight from your head.
Then when you do the CPNE, you only write out your areas you have been assigned as well as the 20 min. check.
You will be given time to write on you care plan form, after the tour of your area you will be doing your CPNE. You can take as much time as possible, but in the end you only have so much time to do the whole CPNE PCS. Dont spend too much time on it or you will run short at the end.
GOOD LUCK!

The grid is yours to make and use however it works best for you.
I wrote out my grids using full mnemonics in the beginning and as I continued to just write them out and learn them, I was able to just use initials to save time. It will only happen with continued writing out of your grids.
LOL even the Thursday night at the hotel before CPNE had grid writing on the agenda. ugh.
