Anyone have any luck getting a vaccine for homebound clients? Client could not make his appointment and we had to cancel. Very difficult to take him out. I keep trying to reschedule the appointment but it’s been almost impossible. Congressman just sent me some form letter, my agency couldn’t care less about helping us, megasite won’t even allow me to schedule one. It’s such a nightmare.

My county BOH is coordinating with Johnson & Johnson to provide vax . They're utilizing Meals-on-Wheels to identify homebound clients. MOW knows who the vulnerable clients are and it passed out a letter of interest. I'm told nurses have already started to vax some clients. I'm to be on the list.
Maybe your county BOH has some type of locating-service with your pts who might be MOW recipients.
I was totally caught off-guard when I was alerted last week.
I personally know the impediments & difficulties you're facing.
Thank you! Will call them tomorrow.
Glad to help!

My client’s father advocated for him by scouring the internet for information. He obtained the required documentation from the PCP and was able to schedule the appointment easily with a local major entity. He then scheduled the entire family, and informed the home care nurses, who did the same. Very, very easy. But that was very early. Now that well known entity states on their website that they don’t really have the stock of vaccine for other than their current patient list and they recommend that vaccine seekers investigate other sources such as the Health Department or local pharmacies. Case of early bird gets the vaccine easier.
Update: Local VNA told me they will schedule home vaccines when they get the J&J one since it’s easier to transport and needs one dose only. I was finally able to schedule an appointment for pt and mom at local megasite for May 1. If we get something sooner, we can cancel the appt.
