During this Pandemic time, we have seen an increase of COVID Mis/Dis-Information.  Much has been posted and discussed on allnurses, some of which has been very divisive.  This announcement is to inform the membership of how we plan to address this information.

As a Nursing Community, we want to be aware of the mis/dis-information, however, we do not want to be a medium to spread or condone such potentially harmful information.  It is really hard to discern with clarity and accuracy, the COVID-19 mis/dis-information.

Some members join just to play devil's advocate, meaning no real harm intended. Or, they join to spread disinformation with the sole purpose to inflict real harm. It makes it difficult to recognize an organized disinformation campaign.

The onus is on our Staff to recognize the difference and take necessary action.  Here is how we will address these situations.

Any new member who joins only to post mis/dis-information and/or causes confusion for any person … member or not, their account will be immediately closed without warning.

Any established member who posts mis/dis-information and/or causes confusion for any person … member or not, their account will be banned without warning.

If any established member continues to ignore Staff direction and posts mis/dis-information and/or causes confusion for any person … member or not, their account will be banned without warning.

As stated in the distant past about global pandemics, “The global mobilization to control the virus will require patience and faith in science. But, we have been asked for both as a country before and came through for each other and future generations.”

These steps are being taken to help combat COVID-19 related misinformation and make sure people have the accurate information they need to stay safe. Let's not be part of the problem but rather part of the solution to protect our community, nation, world.... and most importantly our future generation.
