Hello,
I am a new grad and am hoping to be hired as a NICU, postpartum, or L & D nurse. I am passionate about NICU, but would gladly start in a postpartum or L & D unit to jump start my career. I was hoping I could get feedback on my cover letter. Is there some things you would advice me to take out or is there something you would recommend me adding? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.
Dear Hiring Manager,
I have always had an interest in healthcare, but was driven to nursing after my sister was hit by a car. She spent three months in the hospital in which I was able to observe the care that nurses provided and the difference they can make to the patient and family during the most difficult of times. During clinicals, I discovered my love and passion for maternal-neonatal nursing and I am unable to imagine wanting to do anything else. I applied for this position, knowing that I will make an excellent addition to your healthcare team.
As a recent graduate of San Joaquin Delta College, I have demonstrated academic success, leadership, and adaptability. I was a Student Nurse Association member since February 2019 and was elected to be the communications manager the following December. I have been a volunteer in the Emergency Department at St. Joseph’s Medical Center since December 2019. I am also a current member of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses and Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nursing to assist me with staying up to date on current evidence-based practice.
I aspire to be the best nurse I can be through commitment to lifelong learning and patient centered care. I am a dedicated individual who utilizes critical thinking to provide the best possible outcomes for my patients. My priority is to make a positive impact on my patients and their families by providing compassionate, safe, and quality care.
I admire the mission, vision, and values of Sutter Health and firmly believe I would be a valued asset to the health care team and patients. I would be grateful to be considered for employment and look forward to an opportunity to discuss the contribution that I can make to Sutter Health.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
NRSKarenRN, BSN, RN
