County College of Morris (CCM) Nursing Students - Fall '12

U.S.A. New Jersey

Published

I just wanted to see if there is anyone else out there that is starting the clinical phase of the program and going into NUR121 in about a week's time (OMG - one week!).

I'm excited and anxious, with a healthy sprinkling of terror from time to time. :D

Seriously, though, I'd love to hear from some fellow CCM students! :)

Hi, again! I'm really happy to hear that the department did an orientation for the both of you! I'd imagine that they would want to do as much as possible to prepare you, given the short notice they gave you guys. :)

You must be so excited! I'm slowing creeping into the nervous, butterflies doing loops in my stomach stage (that's an official term, right? :D.

Did they tell you your location or section number? I think that all five of the hospitals do clinicals on both Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 7:00 - 12:30. I'm still trying to figure out how much time to factor in for traffic for driving to Morristown, but we shall see.

Did I mention I was excited and nervous? :D

traffic starts to form up around 6:30a on 287. my section is 80882 Wednesdays.

Thanks for that information! I'm only familiar with RT.80 traffic pattern.

it's a good 40 minutes from CCM, but more/less depending on where you are coming from.

I have yet to find a fellow classmate. :D lol I ran into a couple of people that are going into the fall program in the Health office when I was submitting my medical clearance packet, and we were all pulling out our papers to see if we were in each others clinicals. Of course, no one had the same section, though. lol :)

oh okay, thats actually closer to me :). how can you tell from the sections?. is it posted online or something?

When we had orientation, our packets included a piece of paper that started with "Student Name: DOE, JANE," and it listed Fall 2012 courses.

Towards the bottom of that paper, all the sections were listed, with their corresponding hospitals, and the one that you were in had a check next to it. I pulled that paper out to refer to it, but I'm not sure if you got the same paper.

At the orientation, they also said that sites weren't locked down and could possibly change, though. One of the speakers said to check Blackboard on the 30th, which is when all of the locations would be confirmed and listed, as well as an updated calender listing.

Hopefully, the sites stay the same though. It's definitely great that you got a site that's close to you! :)

Oh okay, she didn't give us that, she gave us a sticky lol, with course sections.

and which malpractice did you go with?. the one im looking at is the nso, and it came up to about 37 dollars.

I went with CM&F Group. It was in our packet to choose from, along with NSO, but it ended up being about $26 versus NSO's $37, so I went with it. :)

If you want to check it out, go to the link below, click "PROCEED ONLINE TO CHECK RATES," and it'll take you to a disclaimer page. Agree to it, at the bottom, and use 08/30/12 as the effective date, since that's the first day of "class" (even though it's really an orientation). Select "New Jersey" as the State, of course, and make sure the "Per Incident / Aggregate Limit" is selected at "1,000,000 / 6,000,000."

Then, if you want to go with them, you can complete the application from there, and it'll be done in about 5 minutes. You pay the $26 dollars, and it'll be bound in minutes. The policy, along with a certificate of liability, should be sent to your e-mail address. That's pretty much it! :D

See you guys in orientation tomorrow. My name is bianca by the way

Hey guys, I'm also interested in joining the program but all of my classes were transferred in. I'm going to apply for the spring semester, what do you think my chances are?

Did u take all your pre req.? My situation was similar. All your classes transfer in as a C. so i suggest to take a science course. I took a&p2 pysch. Micro. And a med terminology class...first semester, and got in the following semester..I was lucky :) lol.The director does a number system. The most is 120 for 4 science classes. An A is 30 points. B 20 points and I think C is 15 or 10 points.

yea I took all my pre req and I'm out of county so i probably won't get in with this point system. I was thinking of taking med terminology this semster but they told me they dont look at the fall classes for spring applications. So i guess its all up to God lol... thanks for replying
