I have my first Pharmacology and Fundamentals test next week and was just wondering what I should expect? I am in the RN program at CACC. Any advice/inform would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah, also, just wanted to see if any of you guys felt really lost the first semester. I am a very organized person, but it feels like I can't organize anything this semester because the teachers tell you nothing about the test or anything. I am guess I am just used to the professors giving study guides and stuff. All my teachers are saying, "you're all adults and you can figure out what to read from you syllabus". I have read sooooo much stuff. I just hope it is enough to do well on my test. Thanks for listening to me rant, lady3dd :banghead:

Hey! I am not sure who you are, but I am in your class. Yes, I am very lost!!!! In pharm. I am definately lost...I know how to do all the math and I am going over that powerpoint and reading chapter 1. It would not hurt them to give us a studyguide or to give us more direction about what to go over. They say they are there to help us pass...well help us a little!!! In Fundamental we have went over so much stuff it is unreal!!! Good luck...what is your name and where do you sit?

It does seem overwhelming at first and it is always hard to tell what or how to study until after the first test. I will graduate in May 09 and have been successful with reading the related material in the book, powerpoints, and taking notes in class. To me the class time is often the most important because as the instructors lecture they will emphasize what is most important to them.

Remember that nursing school is different in the instructors are there to direct our studies but it is our resonsibility to learn the material. I have found that every instructor is more than willing to clarify the topics if you ask them.

What topics are on your first tests?

I second everything amwhit said and add these things to it:

-- Don't expect a study guide, they are rare.

-- The best bet for focusing on specific material for a test is to attend the scheduled tutoring sessions offered with questions about the material.

--Read your book...there WILL be material on the test that was not specifically covered in class.

-- Do many NCLEX questions on the material that you are being tested on as part of your study plan. It will not only help you assess you knowledge of the material, it will also get you accustomed to the type of question you will see for the next 5 semesters.

--Good Luck!

Our first fundamentals test is on infection control, mobility, and stuff like that. Pharamacology is on refresher math, like fraction reduction, etc., and pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics and history of pharmacology, etc. I feel prepared but have no idea what to expect. I think I will feel better after I take the first test. Thanks for the advice!!!!

Hi, those of you at CACC.

Question...What do you think of the RN program?

I am starting to think of applying to CACC in case I do not get into Jeff State. I am about 35 miles away. So, next question...

-what is your schedule like the first semester for NUR classes?

(All I have to take is the NUR classes, I have EVERYTHING else. I am thinking in terms of how many days I will have to drive to Childersburg)

-where will your clinicals be?

-how are the instructors...older, younger, do you feel like they care?

THANKS
