Cost of Classes for SFSU Sequoia/Canada Progra

U.S.A. California

Published

I'm going to be attending the SFSU Sequoia BSN Program beginning in the fall :) (very very happy me!!) and from the info I have found on SFSU's website, it appears that the classes for the Sequoia/Canada College Program are $300 a unit ($900 per 3 unit class). Does ANYONE have any idea if this is correct??!?!?

If so - ouch! I'd better start looking at private student loans because the federal ones sure won't cover the cost.

:(

Hi If1158,

If the program at Canada is similar to the program at the main campus, then it is run differently than on a per unit basis.

According to the SFSU website:

Fees + Tuition - Costs + Financial Aid - Future Students - San Francisco State University

1-6 units = $1,167 per semester

6.1+ units = $2,013 per semester

With that being said you would pay $2,013 + fees even if you registered for 18 units.

Hope this helped you out some.

Hey MJ415

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping, but it also says that the Canada classes are offered through the College of Extended Learning, and if you look at their fees, they quote $900 for each 3 unit nursing class.

I am a graduate RN from this program and yes the cost is correct. The federal student loan program will max you out at $6,250 a semester excluding summer and tuition and books will run you about $5,000 a semester so you have some extra to put away to pay for 15 units in the summer. Its a great program and 21 months straight 5 semesters with about 750 clinical hours total.

Specializes in CVICU.

Whoa. Thanks for the heads up, emsguy. I definitely do not recall them disclosing that the Sequoia program costs more than the regular one while at the informational meeting last year.

So, if the program is currently 59 units, at $300 per unit = $17,700 in tuition. Yikes. That's a bit of a jump from $10,065 that the other SFSU students are paying, but at the end of the day still insanely cheaper than Samuel Merritt.

Yes it is much cheaper than Samuel Merritt. The only reason to go there is for their CRNA program (only one in northern california). I was at the informational meeting last year, sorry if this was not clear.

Hi Emsguy or MJ,

How did you prepare to be in @ the SFSU Nursing cohort with Canada College? Can you give me some pointers please.

Thanks!

I'm a current SFSU student and I paid for this spring 2011 semester's $2012 about I believe. Next semester it WILL increase, this is no joke. I also applied to the BSN. Good job and congrats! The program here is tough as I spoke to a nursing student today.

Hi, so what did you do to prepare for it? I work full-time, so I'm taking the pre-req one sem

at a time. It's so amazing learning that students got in the program got a gpa sometimes of 3.9 or even 4.

Your advice is appreciated.
