Correctional Nursing in Wisconsin

Published

Looking for any information on LPN's in correctional nursing in Wisconsin. Most of the prisons in Wisconsin only hire RN"s. I hear that may be changing due to a lawsuit with guards passing meds. I'm getting burnt out by dealing with death and dementia. I want to be able to communicate with my patients/residents. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know about lawsuits but I do know that many group homes, schools etc. pass medications without an RN or LPN on duty-they take a med test/certification exam after training and can pass meds-they can be called medication aides or UAP.

The regulations vary state by state.

It should be easily answered by simply looking at their website. See if they have postings for LPN's.

I know of an LPN who worked for an agency in WI and worked in a prison...
