Hi! I just wanted to see if anyone has run into this issue. I was planning on taking AMN housing bc my next assignment will be in West LA. I hear traffic is horrendous & I wanted to live in the West LA area & near where I will be working.
My recruiter called to tell me my stipend is only $2400/month & with the stipend & meals & incidentals my take home would be a little over $1500. She said all their corporate housing apartments are charging well over the $2400 budget & closer to $2900 bc she believes it's summertime. She asked if I wanted to do my own searching for a place. I've been trying to look for guest houses but not having much luck. Don't want to rent a room out in someone's home bc I've run into issues before w/that.
Couldn't AMN still be able to go over their stipend budget & still pay for the housing?

Probably not but it can't hurt to ask. Nor would it hurt to check out compensation with other agencies.

Wait so they are going to put you up in an corporate stay and not pay for it 100%. I'm confused. I'm having trouble with housing in SoCal as well. If this is the standard im done! My company will give me $1,800 a month for housing in SoCal. I guess they expect me to live in a crack house! Smh!

I make it a rule no matter what or where or with who the job is. When they make an offer, I counter with ~20% higher. If they offer me $1800 for housing, I ask for $2200. With Denver they offered me $1300 for housing, I asked for ALOT more.... They ended up giving me $1900.
They won't budge. They have us by the balls and they know it!

Yes this is very true. Hourly numbers M&I in writing then ask for another 1000 for the stipend and it is weird how the counter offer is always 600.
Please dont fall for this. What are you supposed to do, sleep in your car because it lowers the company's profits?
If you walk away they make nothing. This person has wasted your time, refused to provide housing and tried to con you into accepting an inadequate housing stipend. Did she act like your friend and expect you to feel sorry for her too? They can be like used car salesmen.
Get another recruiter at AMN . This one is not doing her job.
