Copper Mountain College Nursing Program in California

Published

I've posted a question about Copper Mountain College before and I'm hoping someone can answer my question. I will be applying to the program this Fall and I was hoping to find someone who has attended the program or is currently attending for some feedback. If this post applies to you, can you tell me what your experience was or is with the program specifically at Copper Mountain College in Joshua Tree, California?

Were you accepted right after applying to the program or did you wait on the waiting list? Any information you can give me would be appreciated. I am currently living in the San Fernando Valley but will be relocating if I can get into this program. I am specifically interested in this program because it seems away from the hustle and bustle and I'm hoping that means not a lot of people will be applying. The current wait time for the programs in the San Fernando Valley is 3 to 4 years and I cannot wait that long since I am definitely on crunch time to get this done as soon as possible. Thank you :)

I am also applying for the RN program this Oct. at Copper Mountain college. I just finished my prereqs here. From what I understand, like 34 spots and 14 on the waiting list already. I wish I could help more, but I am in the same spot you are. I have some questions that I am having great difficulty getting answers too. If there is any info you think I can help with let me know.

I asked about how many are on the waiting list and it was mentioned by a Nursing Prof that there were only 1 person on the waiting list from last year. My fellow classmates said 14 as well, but since the new policy was implemented, maybe of those 14 didnt make the cut? I am curious myself though.

When did you hear their was one person on the waiting list. I was told 14 at an orientation I went to in August, so you could be right about those apps not meeting the new requirements. Did you end up applying. I sent my app out Oct. 1, hopefully I will get in the first time around. Good luck to you as well, maybe we'll be classmates.

Hello everyone,

I am applying to Copper Mountain College this October, but I am not quite sure how everything works there. Does anybody know the average GPA to get into the RN program? My GPA is not so great, so i am crossing fingers. Also, how does the waitlist work? Does everybody (people who did not get accepted, but met the general requirements) get placed onto the waitlist?? If so, does anybody know how long their waiting list is as of today? I've applied to Mt Sac and my wait there will probably be for another two years until I get in. So I am wondering if Copper Mountain College has similar rules.

Yea i heard the same thing but when i asked my pharmacology teacher (a few weeks ago) who teaches the LVN class, she said she only knew of 1 person on the list... Yes i did apply, I was at the post office *waiting* for them to open. I screwed up though on something though my evenloped was stamped at 7:31AM, but I'm hoping my application was still one of the first 36..because from what i heard today was that as soon as they get the 36 qualified (meeting the requirment), they are not accepting anymore applications..a few people I spoke of today didn't provide proof they have GED or High School Diploma or an AA (diploma) either one but on the site it says its required (one of those)..so maybe they will get knocked off the list since they didn't include all paperwork!

Good Luck to you Michelle, there is always the LVN if one of us doesn't get in! Carmen

You might want to hurry up and apply since so many over hundreds are applying...! Go to the copper mountain college website and look at the NEW Policy in the RN section..it has everything and questions answered that will be helpful to you! They use the Chancellor Test Success tool thingy...(i dont have the name correctly) but it says on the RN stuff the new policy..

Carmen, Where did you mail from? I was waiting at the Joshua Tree post office when they opened at 9:00 am. I was told by someone that people were getting their apps posted at 12:01 am, I asked at orientation and they told me they do it with online postage. I looked into it, called stamps.com and usps.com and they did not know about the time stamp. (they said priority does not have time stamp) So I went ahead and mailed it at the post office, the good thing thou was it was delivered immediately because where it gets sent is at the same post office. There was 4 of us there and one man that said his wife and two others had dropped their apps off (using online postage) that morning at 3:30 am. I dont know I am just really nervous and praying for that email. Let me know if you get one. Are all your prereqs complete? Did you end up moving down here?

Yes, if the RN doesn't happen, I guess LVN will be a start.

Hello Kim,

I agree with Carmen, if you are going to apply you need to hurry. Copper Mountain College's website explains the criteria for the chancellor's office predictor of success formula (which is used for admission) and a lot of other important information. Check it out, and Good luck too!!

Email me when you can thankx!
