Contacted AMEDD recruiter today

I had a few questions I wanted to ask about my options. I don't have any intentions of starting anything until next year, I was just wanting some info to work with. Don't know how this is going to play out, but apparently I now have an appointment for the recruiter to come and talk to me on Tuesday the 31st. Hope he doesn't think I'm going to just up and sign some paperwork then and there. Anyways, If I get any good information on the process of joining the ANC, I'll pass it along. Plus, since I'll already have a captive audience :lol2:, let me know if anyone has any questions and I'll ask and pass it along.

As I understand it, the direct entry to Active Duty with a BSN in hand does not require a waiver up to age 46.5 years of age. The age waivers come into play if a non BSN graduate is attempting to be placed into one of the programs where they get a monthly stipend for finishing the BSN degree prior to service obligation. I have a phone call into my recruiter right now where I'm going to get all the clarification on all the programs and will post what I find out from him.

Okay, so I went back and updated the info I got from the recruiter.

There are certain benefits and drawbacks to each, but this is pretty much my understanding of how it all works. Hope it helps any of you who may be contemplating your options like I am.

"May take a bonus of $25,000 with no student loan repayment. There is a 5 year commitment."

I was told there is a 4 year commitment for the $25k sign on bonus. Also, I was told that is too late as a senior in Nursing School to sign up for the ANCP. That is a LOT of money to just let go if it is avaliable to me. Is this true? So, if you fail the NCLEX twice you go in as a pfc- infantry? ouch! Good luck in your journey!

I just want to reiterate that this is what my recruiter told me. I urge anyone contemplating joining, to read through their contracts carefully and make sure that any incentives discussed are in writing the way YOU were told it would be.

The $25,000 bonus is only available to BSN graduate nurses who have already passed the NCLEX. Therefore there is no chance of them failing anything to be placed as needs of the ARMY.

The ANCP which contracts BSN seeking students prior to NCLEX testing ARE subject to the enlisted ranks (at E-3 or highest rank held), if they fail to pass the NCLEX on the second try. Placement won't necessarily be in the Infantry but will be needs of the Army.

Thanks for your words of incouragement Cajun . I'm going to seriously think about what is best for me and my family and then implement a plan based on that. Just taking some time to see what all is available to me, should I choose to pursue one of those avenues.

Did the recruiter say what rank you enter into the AR with a BSN? I'm under the assumption that it is a Lt. but I've heard differing stories.
