Constructing a backup plan if I don't get in...

Published

I have applied for rolling admissions for Texas State in Round Rock, TX...

They let you know by June 22 if you're in or you're out. I know that they only accept 100 total students for their program so I'm not even sure how spots are left for rolling admissions!

I'm freaking out and scared out of my mind but still trying to keep my hopes up...

I've constructed a back up plan if I cannot get into a university, I would try to get my ADN at a community college (brookhaven) first then get my RN to BSN through online at UTA or something.

another backup is West Coast University.. They just opened one in Dallas and school started this spring for them. My main concern is their accreditation is ACICS, I'm not familiar with that one but I haven't heard many good things about it... What do you guys think? also: the $$$$, apparently it's $130,000 to be in their program from start to finish, but I've already got all my prereqs done so that cuts out one year, so for me it would be roughly $86,000. Anyone have any information on this school? I tried talking to the advisor but she kept pushing me to attend the information sessions and didn't answer my questions straightforwardly.

I want this so bad, I know this is what I am meant to do... I just feel like I'm gonna fall...

WOW that's a lot of money!

I am a post-bachelor's student(Sociology) and I am in a ADN program. My school here is one of the top rated schools in the area, and it doesn't seem like people are having problems getting jobs here that Im aware of. I plan to go get my BSN online though after graduation(maybe a year or so later).

Good luck in your decision, and hopefully you will get in!

Thanks Katie. The school actually came on here and POSTED. I feel like its way too much. I am considering the adn bridge to BSN. I hope that doesn't hurt me if I decide to go for an msn.

Hi there!! I applied for rolling admission at Texas State too. I am dying to know if I got in!! Now I feel a little discouraged after reading that the advisor told you they are only accepting alternates. If you don't mind my asking, how was your gpa? I had a 3.38 overall, so I'm a little worried. She really told you not to get your hopes up?

My science is a 3.56 and a 3.38 for overall as well. ****** said that all 100 spots in the program have been filled and that they are only looking for alternate spots for rolling admissions. I'm just hoping for an alternate spot because some that DO get accepted might not go to Texas state if they get accepted into a better program elsewhere, that's where alternates come in.

Good luck to you!!

BEWARE of these for profit schools. They only want your money.

By the way, @texas_t, they don't look at overall GPA, they look at the overall pre reqs. I have no idea what my pre-req only GPA is. I've taken a lot of classes because I was a pre-PT major so some of those classes brought my gpa down.

Thank you tunasalad06 :). Good luck!!
