Here's some background. I served 9 years in the USAF and separated to pursue nursing school. I completed my ADN and and with that could easily get a job and with BSN requirements never felt inclined to go back. Through the past 8 years, I have worked as an RN and completed my FNP 3 months ago. That on the back of some needed weight loss, I am making the push to go back in. I am 38 now...so pushing the back side of upper limits. I have already spoken to a recruiter who related to me they were forced to drop their DNP requirement due to lack of enrollment and he stated I should get the process going by my 6 month of experience mark. I would love to hear if other's have gone through something at a later age similarly and how the process went!

One thing going for you is your 9 years in the AF if it was all active duty. You can add your active duty to the maximum age limit; if the age limit is 42 your 9 years no makes your max age 51. What is also nice is that you will come in as an O2 or O3E over 8 which gives you a boost in base pay and BAH. I know that your are prior AF but before you commit 100% to going back speak with the Army and Navy to see what they have to offer. This will eliminate the thinking once you get back in did I make the right choice when it came to choosing the AF over the others.
I appreciate the heads up. I didn't know that time served pushes it back. Still have another 19 pounds to lose so that helps. Though hoping that 19 is over the next couple months. I'm not averse to other services and I have two boys in the Navy. But I am generally more interested in going back into the Air Force as I knew the life and had a good experience for the 9 years I was there.
