Considering Quitting my Job

Nurses COVID

Updated:   Published

I just read new updates on our PPE policy - no N95 masks for taking care of covid patients except for certain procedures. Last time I worked we were still allowed to wear N95 (one per shift). I am turning my 2 week notice in...

Do you think there will be repercussions for your license of quitting the job in this time even with 2 weeks notice?

https://sos.ga.gov/PLB/acrobat/Forms/38 Reference - Nurse Practice Act.pdf

the relevant part starts on page 35. Section 43-26-52 read (a) closely

(a) Hospitals, nursing homes, temporary staffing agencies, and other employers of registered professional nurses, advanced practice registered nurses, or licensed practical nurses shall report to the applicable board, or ensure that such report has in fact been made to such board, the name of any nurse whose employment has been terminated or who has resigned in order to avoid termination for any reasons stipulated in Code Section 43-26-53. (I added the italics)

so it’s not EVERY nurse who gets fired, it’s if a nurse is fired for reasons stipulated in 43-26-53

if anyone cares to they can read -53 but it’s things you’d get reported for in any state: being convicted of a crime of moral turpitude, practicing without a license, use of narcotics, etc.

I am currently in a similar boat. Recently I have been having some health issues of my own, and I am on a high dose of prednisone. They are currently "unsure" of my diagnosis, and therefore my PCP says she can not fill out forms for FMLA for me for COVID-19 precaution. For the first time in my life, I am scared for my life. It is terrifying not knowing what is going on with me health wise and being put in a position that potentially might compromise my health more. I have considered quitting as I don't know what else to do at this point, and I feel that my anxiety is making my health worse. However, I have under a year of experience as an RN (currently around 8 months), and I fear that I may have trouble finding another job. If anyone has some advice, it would be much appreciated. Will it be more challenging for me to find a new job?
