Hi, I"m looking into accelerated nursing programs for next year and I am wondering if there is a program at the Stamford campus? Reading all the posts, I see that Waterbury, Storrs & Avery Point have accepted students but I don't read any chatter about Stamford. I would be interested in Stamford because I live right over the border.

Has anybody been admitted there yet??

Thank you

Hi 5775,

Yes, there is a program at the Stamford site. Stamford and Avery Point both accept 16 students per year and Storrs and Waterbury accept 32 students. You can find out more information about the MEIN program here...Certificate Entry into Nursing (CEIN) | School of Nursing

Hi,

I applied to the 2013 class but I wasn't able to finish all the pre-reqs so I was wait listed for 2013 but 2014 is actually a better start date for me so I'm just happy that I don't have to re-apply. I was just wondering, I'm taking an online genetics class and really struggling, did anyone else have a hard time with the genetics pre-req?

This question is for students currently in the program...I know the program is very time consuming but I was wondering if there were any students with children? I have a young son and just wanted to see what peoples thoughts were on managing your time in the MEIN program with a young family?

Thanks!

Hi jells1026, Genetics can be a bit challenging but doable with some online resources to help break down the most challenging aspects. Good luck!! For my fellow soon to be classmates...anyone have any input on the assessment kits we need to buy?

There are several students with children in our class....a few even with children

Wow mac05032, 2 jobs??!! I'm still wondering how to balance the program while remembering to feed the pets! You've given me some hope! :-)

Hey guys. My name is Nelson Pinho Moreira. I made a Uconn Mein 2013 group on facebook. I'm hoping this group can help us keep in touch as we go through with the program. Most importantly, i hope we can help each other using this group.

Nelson, I'm having trouble finding the group on Facebook. I saw the 2011 group and it seemed to be very helpful to them. I think this will be a great tool for us too

I also can't find the Facebook group, but it's a great idea! Maybe post a link to it on here?

I have a couple of questions about this program and was wondering if someone can clarify for me. I plan on attending an info. session but I'm trying to get an idea of how many prerequisites I need to take.

I have a B.S. in Agricultural Economics, which included Biology w/lab, Chemistry w/lab and Statistics. I graduated from college in 2006, so not too terribly long ago. If these count, it looks like I only need to take AP1, AP2, Genetics, and Microbio, which are all available at my local community college. The only thing I'm still trying to figure out is Undergraduate Research Methods. I'm not seeing a listing for anything like this at the community college. What department would it be under? Is this a class that should be taken in person or can it be done online? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
