  1. Thank You:-) Yes, I worked throughout the program. I worked as many hours as I could realistically balance, meaning my hours often varied weekly with whatever my class/clinical/lab load was. For us, lab was only one semester long (Spring). You may find your schedule a little less strained in the summer and fall, unless of course you end up with a 3 day a week clinical. Hope that helps:-)!
  2. Hi everyone! Just wanted to wish you all good luck! We the class of 2013 are getting ready for graduation in a few weeks. It seems like only yesterday we all were in your shoes! the beginning of the program will be the hardest, but once you get a rhythm going you may find things get a bit easier, and I emphasize a Bit! I'll be happy to answer questions if you guys have any.
  3. Hi StephenKing, There or many of us who do work part time or per diem. it all boils down to how you manage your time! the program is rigorous and taxing, but the year goes by so fast when you're so busy! good luck in your preparations!
  4. Congrats Lithe1960!! How does it feel to be done?!
  5. 30 days left :-)!!
  6. Counting down as well! Got my stethoscope package today and can't wait to put all the supplies to good use:-). My only complaint is the free etching was done by hand and doesn't look great, which is kinda disappointing on such an expensive device. Still waiting on uniform and books and then my wallet and I are taking a break! :) Anyone know the schedule for the first week of school?
  7. Still could not find the group:-(How's everyone feeling (other than broke lol)?! We're just weeks away!!! To answer someone's earlier post, I decided to go with the ebooks. It will take some time getting used to but they made the price more attractive than the hard copies. And since we're moving more and more into all things electronic, this may be the best time to start adapting to new ways of learning, IMO :-)
  8. Wow mac05032, 2 jobs??!! I'm still wondering how to balance the program while remembering to feed the pets! You've given me some hope! :-)
  9. Hi jells1026, Genetics can be a bit challenging but doable with some online resources to help break down the most challenging aspects. Good luck!! For my fellow soon to be classmates...anyone have any input on the assessment kits we need to buy?
  10. Yay!! Very exciting! The packet makes it more real now!
  11. It will workout (and you'll save tons of money :-) !! ) As someone said before, disorganized as the program may have been or is, graduates have been able to find jobs, even before MEIN became a degree program. I wonder if there are differences between the campuses. It seems the majority on this forum are going to Storrs.
  12. Congrats Ajbernier! I have to admit that I am a bit worried about the rumored disorganization, considering the physical, mental, and financial stakes ahead :-/ There are pros and cons to having new faculty and I'm looking forward to what each may bring. I think (hope!) orientation will give us a glimpse of what we are getting into.
  13. Hi Ajbernier! Congrats! There are some mixed reviews on other forums about the MEIN program, not much per se on NCLEX pass rate, which is good question. Maybe we will find out at orientation:-) And as we go through the program, we can add our experiences to the forum for future students!!
  14. Is it me or is the latest email from the school a bit...strange? :-/
  15. Narose, do you need to be rescued from your trench?! LOL! Dont worry, I don't have a trench but I now know my mailman on a first name basis! Congrats AveryPointMEIN and welcome to our anxious group:-)!
