You likely would not be considered for new grad internships. I have no idea if the experience you have would be considered for an acute care position - I would think it would count for something.
I would suggest you just start applying to positions and see what you get told. You may need to take a refresher course to get your skills up to snuff. And yeah, you probably are going to need at some point to get your BSN.

Hey all,
Been reading thru a few threads, realizing how bad the job market is in Dallas/DFW area. would appreciate some advise. A little bit of background:
Graduated in may 2008 --> got an internship with a Magnet hospital in PA for critical care, worked there for 8-9 months --> had to put my wife thru grad school, got another job offer paying 1.5 times to work as an auditor for insurance companies --> quit ICU job (still regret that decision, but was cash strapped
)-->been working at a desk job since that time as a RN but no direct pt. contact, also RN in army reserves for last 1.5 yr--> wife completed gard school, got a decent job in DFW, and now I want to get back in ICU.......just have a ADN though:crying2:
1. Would I qualify for new grad internships, I have been a RN for 3 yrs, but no hands on experience with pts for last 2??
2. Would my "not so valuable" experience count as experience at all?
3. Do I have any chance of getting a ICU job without going for RN-BSN route?
Would love to hear any and all idea.
