Confused..take my time vs 265

Published

when i took my nclex i ran out of time and stopped @ 200 and sadly didn't pass. my other classmates went all the way to 265 and passed. when they told me about their test, they said they realized they were running out of time and sped up and finished at 265 with a few minutes left. so im thinking maybe i shouldve sped up and just finished the 265. but i know that if you run out of time or don't finish 265 only the last 60 count. im confused. what should i do the next time i take the test? take my time or speed up a little and try to finish?

Sorry to hear that you did not pass. I am not sure what you did to prepare, but I did Kaplan. When I was preparing for the boards I took my test on time mode, this helped me to keep my speed up. I am not sure how this test is graded, because I knew people who had a min of 75 questions or the max 265 question and still failed. So I am not sure if running out of time mattered, I think it matters how you are answering the questions. I think you should concentrate on knowing the content and test taking skills. Good luck.

Sorry to hear that you didn't pass. It really is more important to answer questions correctly than to speed through questions. When you start preparing for next time, study as if you haven't tested before. Answer as many questions as possible and study the rationales. Good luck.
