Confused about rheumatoid arthritis question

Published

The question asks if the rheumatoid arthritis pt suddenly becomes fatigued, what intervention should be first? And the answer is check pallor, why is that? it doesn't seem like the best intervention to me. Thanks.

My educated guess is that they are probably on a biological modifier or immune suppressor which causes anemia due to rbc production decrease. However, many people will disagree that checking or assessing pallor is a nursing intervention.

FWIW, I would not considering checking (for) pallor an intervention. This is assessment, which its own "part" of the nursing process, separate from intervention.

What are the other options? I don't know if they're getting at something specific about the patho of RA, but you always want to assess before intervention. In questions like these the assessment option will usually always be the right answer.

What does "FWIW" stand for? Im curious about the other answers too..but I was just offering an idea as to why the presence of pallor may be checked for
