OK so I started my new job with the hospice company, and I am so much happier. Right now I am working full time in the night float pool for their inpatient units. The biggest perk to this is that I get to tell them what days I want to work. I have already scheduled days around birthdays, events, etc. I do have obligations as far as sharing holidays and weekend shifts. Also, they pay me mileage for any round trip over 40 miles.
However, now I have found out that a night position is coming available in one of the units, and it's one I like working in. There is a long-term CNA here, who everyone agrees has no intention of moving on, who works Friday, Saturday, Sunday. He has specific reasons for choosing those days and rarely takes them off. So, while I would lose some control over my schedule, I would gain the stability of always working in the same unit and the same days, and almost always have the weekend off. That sounds pretty freaking awesome.
So which would you choose and why?
