Concordia University Irvine ASBN Fall 2015

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hey there everyone! I'm new to posting on this site, but have lurked for quite some time now. Is anyone else applying to the CUI ASBN Program for the Fall 2015 cohort? I'm sending out my papers this week! I'm from NYC and I'm really hoping to get in, since I'll be moving to California this summer! Also if anyone has attended the program or is currently in the program, I'd love to hear what you have to say about it - what were your stats, and how is the program?

Best of luck everyone!

I had the number "94" next to mine. I think it may be just the application number or something?

Do any of you know what's the statistics of how many people they interview vs. how many people get accepted?

Thanks!

Congrats to everyone who received interviews! Does anyone know if they send out the interview invites at the same time or if they spread it out?

Lauren

I was reading previous posts that 80 are invited to interview for 40 spots in the program. I have no clue if they spread out the emails......

Thanks so much Morgan!!

Its a very positive atmosphere, remember to have a support group - family, friends, for those times when you feel like giving up. The faculty is there for you, however, you have to give your 100%.

HI Everyone,

Make sure to explain any discrepancies in your GPA in your essay. Also emails are sent out to everybody once, be relaxed, dress nicely, and remember that the students you meet that day are probably going to spend the next 15 months of school with you (Its a team work, and not just about you).

It will probably be a group interview, don't monopolize the time, give others the opportunity to talk.

Wishing you all the best of luck.

Hi guys! It took me a while to find the fall 2015 ABSN link. I got an interview for July 17th, anyone else?

Morning everyone!

I also received an email this morning for the 17th.

For or this who haven't received one yet, please don't give up hope. I called yesterday and was informed that they send out invites in bunches so your invite may still be on it's way!

Looking forward to the interview!

goodluck!

Hi everyone!

Congratulations to those of you who received an interview invitation! I am planning on applying to Concordia's ABSN program for the Summer 2016 cohort, and I have a few questions for you all:

1. Where did you take your Chemistry and Psychology Lifespan pre-requisite courses? Community College? Course title? Just want to make sure I register for a course that will transfer. I currently attend Santa Ana College and Santiago Canyon College.

2. Did you have any pre-reqs in progress at the time of your application?

3. Also, My GPA is 3.3, is that competitive enough?

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my questions and good luck to you all!

goingstrong55,

1) I took my Chemistry course at Coastline community college and Lifespan Psych. at a university abroad. If you're taking it at SAC & SCC, I''m almost certain they will be accepted

2) I have just Sociology in progress

3) Is that your cumulative GPA or science courses GPA?

janebshon,

Thank you for responding! That is my undergrad GPA. Does concordia care more about the science pre-req GPA or totaly pre-req GPA, because I have 3 Bs in psych, speech, and english. Science classes GPA is a 3.8 so far (still need chem).

If you don't mind me asking, what were your stats? GPA, experience, etc.

Also, do you remember what your course title was at CCC for Chem?

Anybody else?

Hi!

I had the same questions you did and I found all my answers when I attended the information meeting for the school. They said grades were important but it was not necessary that you have all "A"s in your classes. They really look at you statement of intent. Also if you go to the information meeting you can receive a prereq pre-evaluation form, where you can send in what you have and what you are going to take and see if that will fulfill their requirements. If you don't live far from Irvine I would definitley make the trip!

goodluck!
