I am in the midst of getting my application ready. Hoping that I can wow the committee with my letter, as my GPA is not as competitive as I would like.
Anyone else planning on applying for Fall?
Gosh, it sounds like the interview emails have all gone out. Here's to hoping people decline!
It is such a disappointment because there really isn't much in the way of being able to improve my application. I can't volunteer more because I need to work full time. And I can only take so many classes-and my sciences will start to expire.
But-still trying to remain positive!
-BeesMama, I would call again in a bit just to get a clear answer.
-bbbbb2013, the classes are fairly demanding. They are online which helps, but we still have discussion boards, a few pages to type and quizzes. Mix in the reading, which is a good amount and the class becomes fairly demanding. Lets keep in mind we all have different schedules so the word demanding can be different for each person. I have a family which likes to be active in the summer with getaways, beach trips and hanging by the pool, to me, the classes are fairly demanding.
Just spoke to the asst director. She said that most of the invites have gone out. People have until tomorrow to accept/decline. She said that if we haven't received something by Monday afternoon-it is safe to assume we are not moving forward.
Here's to hoping I am high on the maybe list! :)
hey cubanrob--just out of curiosity, how demanding are the theology classes that you are taking?
I can answer that too since CR and I are both in cohort #9...
The theology classes are not too bad. One is more Theology and the other is more New Testament History and Literature. They are online and require quite a bit of reading and writing, but it is almost nice to be writing again after so many science (and scantron) classes! :)
The professors are great and they broke the cohort into smaller groups, which I think allows better connection on the discussion boards. I am enjoying both the classes and I feel like it has been really good for me in terms of my own faith.
Also, one of the books that we use in one of the classes "Order Restored" by Ludwig is a great book about Jesus and his healing ministry but also the wholistic aspect of medicine and how to focus on the entire health of the person, not just the illness. It is a really good and totally applicable read. I have really enjoyed relating that book to my future career in nursing (which is, let's face it, a ministry in and of itself). It might be a good book to pick up for anyone that is interested in that type of read... even if you don't end up at Concordia. I think it is the kind of read that makes for better providers on the whole. :)

Hello everyone, new to the thread, maybe there is a smaller applicant pool. I agree that the last cohort forum had a bit more people. I am very excited!!! I got my interview date on Monday! Between ButterFlyMichel & Adonisvil, yours are on the 19th, mine is on the 17th, last name "B". Let's grow this forum! Looking forward to meeting you all!
