U.S.A. California

Hi everybody. I didn't see a thread for the ABSN program for Fall 2014 at Concordia University Irvine so I made one. I sent in my application last week. Is anyone else applying for this program? What are the chances of getting in?

Hey AspiringNurse99. How do you like the school. Are you please of having chose an ABSN? I am debating between a masters or the ABSN. Could you expand about housing and transportation to the clinical practice sites? Thank you and congrats; I imagine you are almost done.

I just had orientation and will start my core nursing programs in August! And at orientation they mentioned that 90% of students are hired within 3 months and all hired within 6-9 months. They are very personal with each student and mentioned that people in the past that have not received jobs right away either were not looking very actively or had some life issues that came up. Overall I feel really great about choosing Concordia. I too was looking at entry level master programs and got into one in northern CA called Samuel Merritt. However, it is very expensive and I just wanted more experience before I get a masters (which I will eventually do).

The campus is beautiful and they just built and entire new section for nursing! It has brand new mannequins for the simulation skills lab. The staff is really friendly and wants to help. And honestly with the quickness of the program the price is not so bad. I have looked at other programs and just felt more comfortable with this accelerated program. I am already reading my books for the fall because I am so excited and since I will be very busy! They emphasize the need to dedicate yourself to this program 100%. They mention (in a joking, but almost serious manner) to not get married, try not to get pregnant, try to let your family know you need them healthy haha and just be 100% dedicated to the program for one year. You will have no social life and eat/live/breathe nursing school but it will be worth it!

Is the new building for nursing located on the same campus as undergrad? I heard it was going to be located offsite at another building

People from the previous cohorts, what are your plans for housing and transportation? What are the main clinical sites?

For those who applied for fall 2014, we should be finding out if we get an interview in about 2 weeks. I'm so nervous at the moment.

Has anyone received an interview for CUI Fall 2014 yet? I haven't seen anyone post online that they've received an interview notice for this cohort. Interviews are supposed to be ~ the second week of July though.

I have co-workers who said the questions range and it's good to prepare about seven examples of character stories. One question was what is "a moment you demonstrated courage?"

Thank you for your input AspiringNurse99. I haven't heard anything yet. I hope not too many people apply so we can get in.

The new building will be about 5 miles from the main campus but we will do everything at that campus. Almost no need to go to the main campus. The other campus is off jamboree !

so does anyone know when we would be getting interview notices? i mean this is the last week of June and I still haven't heard anything. trying not to bother too much, but i'm kind of freaking out.

I believe we should be hearing something by next week. I remember reading that previous cohorts got emails around the 4th

thanks!!! well we are all crossing our fingers then...good luck everyone!

Good luck guys. I am a little stressed too. Let's cross our fingers!

Has anyone received any news about interviews?
