Concordia Texas ABSN Fall 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all! I applied to CTX's ABSN Fall 2020 program. I just heard back that my completion plan was approved by the Registrar! Anyone else applying? Also would love to hear from past cohorts!

Hello! I am looking to apply to, and am moving from CA if I get in! Was curious about any one else applying from CA!

I am from CA and applied and start in august ?

Hey Morgan!

Are you planning on coming back to California after the program!? I asked them if this program would help secure an RN license in California, and they said they couldn't make any promises and that a lot of the Californian's end up staying there! I am nervous to attend if it will be a struggle to come back!

Hi!

Honestly I'm not sure! I mean if I like it out there I will stay. But don't be worried about it because all you do is apply for your boards in CA and your licensed here ? OR since texas is a compact state, you can take your boards in texas and it'll be good in all the other compact states, then just endorse it over to CA ?

Thank you for this response! Honestly I love Austin and would be happy to stay there as well!

Hi,

I just received my conditional acceptance for the Fall 2021 ABSN program! Has anyone gotten feedback from past cohorts about the program? Any concerns? I'll be moving from CA. Any idea where students typically rent/live?

Thank you!

I couldn't find a fall 2021 forum so I figured I'd post here.  I've been accepted and am starting Concordias ABSN program this fall upon completing Summer courses.  I'm currently enrolled in old testament new testament and medical spanish.  Unfortunately all of these courses are pretty Texas specific so I had never felt the need to take them prior.

Those courses are very Texas and that school specific. Do you mind me asking how much it costs to take those classes?

Those 3 classes were about 4k.  About what I'd be paying at a local community college if any in New York were to offer religion LOL.

Definitely was a factor but in my opinion it was worth it because most nurses I know were in debt for a little and have the chance to make a ton of money to pay it off, especially in california

Are you taking out loans for the program tuition as well as housing expenses?

Hi, everyone,

How do you like the program so far? Are those Concordia specific religious courses hard? Are clinicals in person?

I can't speak to clinicals as I've yet to start mine, but they're in person as far as I know.  The religious courses are hard for me, I'm not religious whatsoever and it's such a grey area of "right and wrong" answers it's really up to your professor to agree with your perspective.  I feel like they expect you to know more than what's being taught and I literally literally literally only know whatever section I'm learning that week.  Decent work load and tedious but you'll do fine, just time consuming.
