Concordia NY Fall 2018

Hey all! I was recently admitted to Concordia's Fall 2018 ABSN program and figured I'd start a thread on it, since I haven't noticed one yet. Anyone have any questions? Concerns? Etc?

did you have an interview? or did you just get an email that you were accepted?

I didn't have to interview actually, I got a phone call from the admissions office as well as a letter about a week later. It's a little unorganized over there at the moment, I believe the dept secretary was recently did so they're juggling a lot of stuff.

Hi everyone! I applied to the Fall ‘18 program as well. I sent in my application in the middle of September, however I just took my TEAS today. I wonder how long before they review my whole package being that I took the TEAS late.

does anyone know if classes are everyday or just a few days a week? I'm gonna be commuting and just wanted to figure out how often I'll need to be on campus

Only a few days a week, most likely not on weekends (unless you get a clinical then) as per someone who just graduated the last cohort. I believe we'll find out more info when we go to our orientation in June.

Also, apparently the scrubs we have to get are terrible. We have to wear the top, but are allowed to get our own bottoms as long as they're the same color. Just an FYI.

Yeah my sister went here for nursing a few years ago the scrubs didn't seem that bad but they made them wear white nurses shoes with no laces that were pretty bad but I think you're allowed to wear sneakers now

Days per week, depend on a number of factors. Not the least of which is your group assignment. Depending on the size of the cohort, students can be separated into 2 (or 3) groups designated A, B or C. During my first semester I had to physically be at the school 4 days/wk and at clinical the fifth. The other group had one longer weekday but had Friday off for both class and clinical. It was just the luck of the draw.

Scrubs aren't that great but no worse than other student sets I've encountered. Be careful purchasing the trousers separately, Halfway through my senior year I needed to buy new scrub pants only to find out that different companies use different shades of "Royal Blue." I needed to go to staff to get permission to wear the slightly mismatching scrub set.

Double check with any variation regarding the uniform. During the end of Cohort 9's (Fall '17) instruction, staff was beginning to crack down on uniform irregularities.
