Concordia Irvine 2017

Published

Hi everyone,

Wondering if anyone out there is going to be applying to Concordia Irvine's fall program for 2017?

Unfortunately I missed the application deadline for the summer program but plan to apply in May for the fall start date. I'm pretty upset with myself for missing the last deadline but trying to focus on moving forward instead of ruminating on my failure.

I have all prerequisites completed for CUI's program save chemistry due to their 5-year statute of limitations. I am taking chemistry for nursing majors this semester, despite having two full years of chemistry (general and organic) from my BS with A's.

I was a little frustrated that I had to re-take the class because I completed all other science prerequisites in 2016 with a 4.0, but you have to do what you have to do right! Ultimately I understand why they have the requirement though. And I like chemistry anyway, it's just hard because it takes so much time away from being able to work and save money for next year where I will hopefully be in a program somewhere.

For those of you who might already be in a CUI ABSN program or have completed the ABSN program at CUI, I'd also like to hear from you about your experiences. I am not Lutheran but I did go to a Lutheran high school and actually know a number of people who went to college at CUI for other majors. Thanks!

Hey LuckyMoon!

I was thinking of applying for Fall too. The funny thing is that I'm retaking Chemistry just like you (my most recent chem course was ochem in Summer '12). Did you check with an advisor if the chem course you're taking qualifies?

Hey there imtoonice!

Sorry I am a month late responding here. I have been so busy the last month I had pretty much zero time for social media.

I did check with them and the Chem I am taking does qualify. Which chem are you retaking out of curiosity? Where else are you applying?

I'm taking the chem for allied healths (the gen/orgo/bio combination). I haven't actually checked if Concordia will consider it...I need to ask. I know it counts for MSMU so it should count for CUI? lol. I applied to a handful of ADN programs. As for ABSNs, I'm applying to CSUSM, CUI, and MSMU. What about you? I looked at your post history and noticed that we share very similar stories! Best of luck to ya.

I believe the Chemistry for Allied Health should be fine. From Concordia's website:

Chemistry** (with lab)

Chemistry course must be college level coursework. General and/or Introductory to Chemistry class specific for pre-health majors (pre-nursing, pre-medicine, pre-dentistry) is preferred. Preparatory courses and chemistry for non-science major are not acceptable.

I am also applying to a couple ADN programs, a couple ABSN programs (CUI and SMU), a couple two-year BSN programs (CSUS, CSUC), and will be applying to the UCD entry level Master's program. I was really banking on one of the ABSN programs but they are so expensive! I am starting to reconsider and am beginning to lean towards a two year program at the state level for a BSN. I regret not getting an application in to CSUSM for the Summer '17 program. Ah well.

It does look like we have some similarities regarding our backgrounds. Thank you for the good wishes. Best of luck to you as well!

Hi all! I am applying for Fall 2017 as well. I submitted the application already and sending transcripts-personal statement-last recommendation-payment package by the end of this week! I am not Lutheran either but have always attended religious affiliated universities. I like them. They tend to be community driven and with nursing I think spirituality and religion play such a paramount role with the patient population that a nursing program with a religious affiliation is ideal!

Hi rcarney,

Congrats on getting all your stuff submitted. I have been accepted to a couple other programs and have decided to attend one of those other schools instead of Concordia. I think Concordia will likely be a great program though.. Best of luck getting in! Let us know how things go.

Hey,

I applied for Fall too and I don't know how the criteria for the selection. So how did it go with the application, have they replied to you?

Hey,

Did you receive any email about the interview?
