I am interested in the program myself but I am applying for Fall 2011 after I graduate. I PM'ed annod81. She is presently in the program and she is very nice answering any questions that you might have ( and believe me I had a lot). Just PM her.
I think the program is new enough that most people looking for ABSNs in NY just stick to the big names ( Pace, NYU, Columbia, etc,). Perhaps that why you have not had a reply.
Hope that helps.
i received an acceptance letter today to concordia.
CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was quick. I know you said NYU is your first choice so I still hope you get in there but I know it must be a load of your chest to know that you will be starting somewhere come Fall.
If you do not mind me asking what were your grades in the pre-reqs and GPA like and how was the interview with Dean?
Yes this has definitely put me at ease to know that i'm going somewhere regardless! I was not expecting to hear from Concordia until April. I talked to someone who said that she interviewed in Feb and got her acceptance letter in April, so i figured that's how it would pan out for me. However, when talking with the Dean I remember her saying that they are looking to accept 40 qualified students. She said that if they can go ahead and get those 40 students to confirm going to Concordia, then they would be done. But I didn't think much of that.
I had a phone interview with the Dean but it didn't really seem much like a phone interview. She asked me why i'm interested in nursing now, and why i'm considering concordia. then she went on to talk about the program and answer the questions i had.
as far as my stats, my undergrad gpa was 3.36. i got an A in micro and A&P 1, and i'm currently taking a&p 2. since i was a biology major i took 9 hours of general chemitry (2 lecture courses, and 3 hour lab). I made an B in chem 1, A in chem 2, and B in the lab. So as long as i do decent in the A&P 2 course, and submit my grades to them i can go. i have until may 1 to submit my deposit, which is good because it gives me some time to wait on the other schools im considering. At this point, even though i applied to 5 schools, i'm only waiting on nyu which is my #1 but i'm still considering concordia very much. This acceptance has come at a perfect time because I am traveling to new york next week... so i'm happy that i'll have a chance to visit the campus while i'm up there.
hope this helps!
I just found out that I'm accepted to Concordia's 15-month program starting this fall. I saw the school two times and it's really beautiful... it has a quaint, intimate feeling that you don't really get from a city school, and the people seem really nice. From what I gather there are actually only 4 professors, who teach all of the on-campus classes. This doesn't include the clinicals, where you have hospital professionals teaching you. The woman who interviewed me stressed the fact that they really do whatever it takes to help you get through the program because they want you to succeed.
The one concern I have is my social environment. My interviewer said that many people are here starting their second career, maybe in their 30s or older. I'm just graduating college this spring. I think that a mix of ages is a good thing and I enjoy being around people in different stages in their career. I'm wondering though how many people in my class will be around my age group. If 10 of the 40 accepted are just out of college, I would be happy with that. I don't have any statistics though and wonder whether I'd be the only one?? If anyone has insight into this please let me know. (aka: people on this post, are you recent graduates or on your second career?)
Thanks in advance!
WheresCara-
I graduated last may.. so i'd be right along there with you somewhat. i was accepted to the fall too, but i haven't made a decision yet since i'm still waiting to hear from some more schools. i dont have any extra insight into the class makeup though, i guess i never really thought about that before with the class size being so small... but that's a good question!

Anyone applying to Concordia's program in Bronxville, NY for the fall? Haven't seen a thread for it yet!
